look up medical quarantine. You're wrong.

Fast forward 1 month and those numbers are double. The CDC thinks there could be 55,000 cases by January. 30 people a day isn't going to do jack.

So do the states.
just google it up. The actual debate has actually been addressed by numerous legal scholars that think she doesnt have a chance in hell of legally trying to fight it.
your proggie faux outrage is pathetic.

Maine only has laws on quarantines for animals. The Maine State Police are the ones enforcing the quarantine, which in Maine is not legal. If it was the FBI, you'd be on to something.

Since Christie didn't consult with any medical professional or have any solid plan in place he likely fails on all of these counts. Never mind that the nurse was asymptomatic and on her way to Maine when they began her detainment and therefore would not have been a risk to anyone in NJ.

I bet mmcgrath's legal argument (parroted from the Obama administration and its lackeys) will fail in federal court. We'll see soon enough.

Once we cure them, I'm sure we will send them back home. Right? Or did they just win the immigration lottery too?

quote:Jesus, some people are so paranoid about immigration. I am sure that they will want to go back to their family after spending a few weeks in a bio-containment unit vomiting and defecating. These aren't people expressing the least bit of interest in coming to America, they just want to get better.

OK, just making sure you favor repatriating them back into the hot zone after curing them.
I just don't see the point in wasting all that taxpayer money shuttling people back and forth to the US, and taking all the risks that entails. If we want to make a difference, we should invest that money in facilities & training, in Africa. Then they get what they need, we don't get what we don't want, and everybody is better off. Why is everyone in such a hurry to bring this plague here?

We should go do some fishing for reds and trout down in QUARANTINE BAY.

What I don't get is why this woman would not want to quarantine herself? It's 21 fricking days. As a volunteer at a hospital for Katrina evacuees I got TB. I was under a medical quarantine for two weeks once. I was assured I wouldn't be able to pass my illness to anyone because I had no cough, fever, etc, but they wanted to be safe. It was no problem for me. Why the hell would I want to walk around even if there was a remote chance I could infect someone? I had to go to a state clinic every day for 1 1/2 years to have antibiotics administered under supervision. I never once thought my civil rights were violated.

Exactly, especially since the CDC chief said it was imperative to not limit travel to and from Africa. He said a travel ban would lessen the effort to control the disease in Africa.
Is he now on the bandwagon to bring those infected people here? shite, that's like finding a ticking nuclear bomb over there and saying "let's bring it to the US to defuse it".

How about we send ppl over there, build the treatment centers over there and let them deal with it. We will yake care of our workers if they return home sick and any traveler that gets sick while they are here.

In the Dallas case the exposure was much greater as Duncan was a walk-in and therefore there was a significant period before diagnosis and the staff was not well prepared for that articular instance. HCP's like the doctor in NYC and Ms. Hickox (sp?) are much more likely to have Ebola if they are spending time in West Africa.
Finally, if we are a major contributor to fixing this thing in West Africa, with thousands of people successfully treated by the US, we will have a large vocal community to fight against the anti-American rhetoric that is slowly taking over the region. Also, the US will be better prepared to handle any homegrown bio-terrorism and / or natural outbreak.
