I know that like almost every reality tv show is really staged but to me though this one has always seemed pretty real. At least most of the episodes I have seen looked to be real. Some of the newer episodes are starting to look a little somewhat staged... like they're planning the arrests and stuff.. They went hard in the 90's out busting gang bangers & stuff and now watch one from the last couple years & they're just going to hotels & apartments & stuff for minor stuff. I still like it though. What's your opinion on this 25 year running tv series?

This show first taught me to doubt authority. I think it was about the tenth time I watched officers search a car for narcotics for about 5 minutes, only to 'suddenly' have it appear right in a white Baggie on the seat in front of them. They missed it right in front of them for 5 minutes only to magically see it all of a sudden. None of it was ever planted.

Yea, like that guy that got shot and killed a couple of weeks ago while filming Cops. Totally fake.

I think I recall an episode where a black man was on PCP and completely naked inside of an elementary or high school he had broken into at night.

This was before the reality tv craze, I don't see why they would have faked that.

It's the only real reality television show to me.

Cops and America's Most Wanted...typical Saturday night when I was a kid in the 90s.

I've seen some tragic things on Cops, it is real. There are also documented cases of the crew members getting involved in the arrests.

Welcome to the police of today's world. They're only concerned with exercising massive control and force over confused people in pretty crimes. They don't bust up real crime any more. Just check for break tags and taser you if you complain.

Not staged, but it seems like one of the requirements is for these dirty arse people to be "smokin a cigritt" while telling their stories to the cops. Every episode it happens.

Cops is not fake.

Fun fact: in order to appear on the show and not be a cop, you have to either be shirtless or wearing a Looney Tunes shirt.

Fun facts about COPS.

Watching COPS is a valid excuse for being sweaty.

COPS doesn't come on until 4:30.
