why do people feel this way? I've never understood this argument. Darth Vader turned out to be second in command as well, was he a meaningless pawn to you?
Besides, if you followed the making of the film, there was no doubt that Talia was going to be in it. I figured she was the one in charge, so I was not surprised by it.

Am I the only one in this thread who thinks TDKR and The Avengers were both good movies and very enjoyable to watch?
I consider them both above average, solid movies with of course the obvious flaws everybody has pointed out.

If Darth got killed by an Ewok that showed up out of the blue on a speeder then yea, he would have ultimately been a meaningless pawn.
But he redeems himself and kills Palpatine which makes him more than a simple lackey like Bane ended up being.

First, you know he's taking orders from A New Hope. There's no "reveal."
Second, that's a bad comparison, the prophecy is about Anakin, and as a weak a film as RotJ may be, it aligns with Anakin being the difference in the end. He doesn't end up a pawn, he ends up a savior of the Galaxy.
Big difference.
