My coworkers advice on establishing alpha dominance over a new pup

Is to flip the dog on its back when it contests you as leader and stand over it and snarl and growl in its face. He said he has even "snapped" at his dogs with his teeth in their face and it's always worked. Is this actually a good way to do this?

You gotta beat the shite out of a dog... then it will listen.

I don't know about all the snarling and shite.
But holding the pup down on his back until he submits and stops squirming is a very common tactic
also don't break eye contact before the pup does.

Your friend sounds like a closet serial killer.

You are suppose to flip it on its back and stand over it, but I dont know about growling at it.

The growling part is kind of dumb but is dog language.
We rescued a problem dog and the trainer did say to put him on his side but remain calm over him. No growling. He said that just tensed the dog up even more.
AFter a while, I just did the old school way of showing that POS dog who was boss. Now he listens.

We have a new guy in the office. I'm going to have to try this.
Edit: Oh you mean a real dog. I thought this was an "Alpha vs Beta" thread.

I held my dog on its back and rubbed my fingers between his paws. He fricking hated it. But he learned who the boss was.
I also dog cussed him and shamed him. Just for fun.

Exactly, you can never hit a dog too early, too often or too hard.
Any time it shits in the house, sits on the couch or you just find yourself daydreaming about how awesome your life could have been if you just hadn't gotten that dumb bitch pregnant, you should beat the shite out of the dog.

I grab a dog. I choke him and I kick the shite out of him. All day long got my foot up a dog's arse. Just bang, bang, bang up his arse. That's my pleasure.

Good thing about dogs, their coat covers up the bruises.

It's a puppy. Just pick it up by the extra skin on the back of its neck when you want it to do something. It will learn you are its alpha or its parent. Like in the wild.
Doing it your buddies way just shows him he has to get stronger to beat you. Or tear your throat out while you sleep.

You gotta choke that pup out for your alpha dominance to be effective.

Fetus, when your dogs got out of hand didn't you beat them to death? That's probably a little too far IMO.

Ceaser suggest holding a dogs head down by the neck when they get out of line. It's similar behavior to what a mother dog would do with her pups.

You say beat to death, I say loved to death. Tomato - Tamahto
