I don't think it's illegal, but trading rate for product is definitely a deceptive trade practice. Not knowing who the dealership is (locally owned mom and pop vs. All Star, etc), obviously All Star has more exposure and deeper pockets to pay claims if it comes to that.

I was just covering myself, but NuVision FCU will offered my 84 months on a refi of a 2012 model, so it actually isn't. Thanks though.

He went 79 months. The car has been titled before, it is USED! Please list the banks that go over 6 years financing on a used vehicle.
So you just can't read very well. Regardless, you're wrong because there are places that will do it.
ETA: NuVision terms Before you call BS.

Used cars have crappier rates than new cars....that being said, your responsibility to negotiate does not end when you go into the finance manager's office.
I always go to the dealer with approval for a loan through my bank, but I've killed a few deals outright because the finance manager offered what I consider offensive rates without even knowing my social, credit score, full name, etc. I make sure to let the salesman and his manager know why they lost the sale they just spent hours negotiating as I leave. You don't have to take their bullshite deals just because they offered it.

WTF is wrong with you? I clearly stated BANKS in my other post and in subsequent posts and you keep replying with "places" or CFUs....mother fricking banks dude! Can you read it? B A N K S.
That's what I was asking about?

I am not saying there isn't some fault on myself- everyone (except for Many OT posters) make mistakes and have lapses in judgment. This is an example of such for me. I will learn from this. It is honestly no really about the money - money is not everything in life.
It is the principle- and if I can save one person from getting screwed at Brian Harris then great!
Of course I should have been more prepared-I wasn't-my fault.

Inform the GM of the issue. Refinance at a CU or bank, cancel the warranty immediately if you don't want it. Problem is that money will go back to the lienholder as a reduction of the financed amount, not to you.

Whatever dude. Used cars can be financed for over 72 months one way or another.
ETA: It's just funny that in your opinion a credit union isn't a bank.

That is my plan- headed to the dealer shortly- I'm ok if the principle is reduced by the warranty amount-ill refi elsewhere at a lower rate for shorter term - lesson learned here

Good luck with that.

Who buys a Chevy Traverse
Half of my coworkers. They all seem to love their Traverses. Pretty sure that's the best selling large crossover in the country right now.
They aren't cheap either.
I don't ask them if they get screwed on financing though.
To the OP, I'd refinance with a credit union if you are not happy with the terms. I don't think you will be able to ditch the extended warranty.

I personally feel bad for you if you think you were screwed.
You just can't make anyone (with common sense) on this board understand why you signed the deal.
Even IF he lied and said you had to have the warranty to get the financing done and at 79 months, you still had the freedom to walk the frick out of there.
The % was higher, the terms were longer...both of those were above what you thought you were going to get! Why wasn't that enough to check other financing methods rather than accept those and decide you are now pissed because you got sold a warranty?
My gut tells me you had a # in mind before you walked in that you wanted to pay. I think he got to that # by stretching out the terms and at a little higher rate, and you were happy about it because you got at or below your number with the warranty included (whether he lied or not).
Take the deal, be happy. Pay it off early like you talked about and save money. Having the warranty on there is not the worst thing in the world.
Everyone keeps telling you to go refi it at a lower rate somewhere else, which you could do. But that won't do much if you plan on paying it off in the first 3 or 4 years anyway.

They must be in love with the all plastic interior. Isn't it the best selling because it's all rental companies that buy it?

No, it's funny you can't find a bank (after 20 minutes of google) that extends over 72 months on used vehicles.
Don't be a bitch, I specifically said banks for a reason. If I told you what a family members job was, you would quit thinking I'm making shite up.

Brah,
You might want to look into leasing.
You fell for "coupons"?!?!?

I didn't google to find that, I've actually used them and had 84 offered. I just bothered to remember it because you were a condescending a-hole for no particular reason and said I was wrong.
For all intents and purposes, a credit union can be described as a bank in this debate. But feel free to go to trivial semantics to keep this going.

The newer Traverse models seems to be the "in" car with all of my middle aged co workers who have lots of kids. The interior looks very nice and appears to be reasonably well made. They have comfortable seats that can fit someone my size in the 3rd row, which is impressive. I can see their appeal. It's similar to the Ford Explorer or Dodge Durango, only larger and probably more reliable than the both.
My point is that they make hundreds of thousands of those things. If the OP was concerned with his dealership's negotiating tactics, he could have probably driven to Gerry Lane or All Star or any other Chevy dealer and bought the exact same truck.
His option now is to refi the vehicle through his credit union and not make the same mistake in negotiating when he purchases his next vehicle.

I'd keep the warranty at the point if I were you. Karma is a bitch.
You running around telling everybody that you were victimized by your own stupidity is asking for a major breakdown. Especially with a Chevy.
