The LSU and Ole Miss game of 1969 was televised. Are there any replays of that game?

I was 7. We had just gotten our first color TV. First thing I remember seeing in color.

I was 11 and I took big losses just as maturely then as I do now.

I was 7 and I bawled my little eyes out. (My first game in person in DV was the previous week against Auburn.)
If Mac had only gone for the tying FG, we would have played Texas in the Cotton Bowl, possibly for a NC. (We should have played them anyway, but thanks to (&(%^##~#$^^&%$^# Notre Dame, no.

It did not come up on You Tube. Maybe someone on the Ole Miss board has it. To avoid smartass comments, wait until after we beat them Saturday night to ask.

That's the game that LSU was introduced to "Archie who" Manning. We lost 26-23 if I remember correctly. It was a bad day!

I was a sr. in High school and 4 of us got tickets and went to the game. I had seen Manning play the previous year in Jackson in the old double headers they used to play with State and Bama in rotation. I knew Manning was good. Game made us sick. Slept in a dorm parking lot a little ,then drove home to North La.

I believe we were introduced to him the previous season in Jackson, and lost then too. 27-24.

Archie Who??? We made up for in '70!!! Orange hit him on the head, was sitting about 12 rows up right behind their bench...his arm was in a cast and then he got a headache to go with it...
Geaux to Hell ole miss, Geaux to hell!!?

This game still haunts me. LSU had the best team in the country, but they ran into Archie in Jackson that day and lost. This was Coach Mac's national championship team, and they would have beaten Texas in the Cotton Bowl. Notre Dame broke its bowl ban, and Texas was certainly glad to find someone else to play. Texas was fortunate to beat Arkansas in the "game of the century" and Ole Miss kicked Arkansas' butts in the Sugar Bowl.

We were introduced to Archie the previous year when he was a sophomore but the game was in B.R. He threw a last minute TD pass in the same corner of the south end zone where Bert Jones would throw to Brad Davis four years later. I know because I was sitting right there both times. We got them back in '70.

you are right. I had the years backwards. a little thought would have put me in the right time frame being that everyone knows that the 61-17 game was in BR, so would have been the 1968 game. I was there too same seats where I sit now in fact. I just knew in 1969 archie was a junior. 1968 would have been the year that archie tossed that td pass near the end of the game if i'm remembering right.

I was tempted to skip this thread, but I'm glad I didn't. I love these "back in my day, sonny" stories.

Best LSU team that I remember before this century. Didn't go to a bowl game and ended up ranked 6th. Broke every offensive record for LSU at the time and I believe gave up less than 10 points a game on defense.
It is truly one of the great LSU teams that is never talked about. It is somewhat overshadowed by the "Archie who at LSU" in 1970 game that the Tigers won 61-17, but that 69 team was awesome.
