I've been thinking that the love interests are prime candidates for death this round (Jane in particular)

Doesn't Portman want out anyway?

They could also end Carter in a heroic way like this. Ultron has all data on Avengers, attacks the "strings" to the team (and Widow being a string too)

A good trailer. Very Dark Knight-esque. I'm digging it.

I think Foster and Hawkeye are about a 90% probability of biting it.

I think Rhodes has the smallest chance. There was a rumor from the script that he dies. But if RDJ us out of this universe post-Cap 3, I think you keep Rhodes in, even if you have to recast Cheadle. Do it after this film and just go (I have no idea if Cheadle is in for the long run or not).

On the Panther rumors, we still don't have an actor on that, so IF he appears, I assume it's in BP-mode only. Probably the best way to go about throwing him in.

didn't renner just re up his contract?

Foster needs to die, that love story has done nothing for the thor movies at all.

James Spader has possibly the most awesome voice in hollywood since james earl jones.

Great choice for ultron.

I couldn't find anything on that. Just that he IS signed for A3 and has an option for a solo film in the contract.

My thing is: I think they are REQUIRED to kill an Avenger in this film. They just have to.

IM and Cap - In Cap 3, so No
Thor 3 - Everything tells us this is coming, and he's a "god"
Hulk - I see this as a POTENTIAL, maybe, especially with the amount of pain it looks like Banner is in in that trailer, but he is the Hulk
Widow - Still their biggest female character, I don't see them taking her out.

Hawkeye - He's getting the shaft, pun intended, because I love his character, but he's the obvious choice.

Agreed.

I think she's either dead or they'll scrap that storyline and her with it. They don't need her to attach Thor to Earth for Thanos.

Marvel couldn't even keep Agent Coulson dead and his "death" was the catalyst for bringing the Avengers together to fight Loki. What makes you think they will kill an Avenger off permanently?

Marvel's been pretty good about raising the stakes for their Universe in terms of everything but death. This LOOKS darker, I think having a major team death is critical to following through on that tone.

If they don't, maybe they figure out another way to do it. But one would think Marvel here's the cries of "Deaths don't matter in the MCU!" and will respond with better than just Jane Foster.

I don't think Hawkeye bites it this go round, he seems like too obvious of a candidate, which is a large part of his appeal, being elevated to the big leagues.

I think Rhodey is a prime candidate because they still have no idea what to do with him and it appears that RDJ is sticking around for a little while. Unless they are linking Danvers and Rhodey, I just don't see what he is bringing to the table if the Iron Man franchise is on hold.

My bet is a combination of the Jane-Pepper-Peggy Carter trio. Hell add Betty Ross in there too, if the Thunderbolt Ross rumored return is true.

ETA: As far as an Avenger goes I think if they are doing Civil War, they can't afford to lose any hero bodies yet.

I wouldn't be surprised but I really think they should keep in around in lieu of Iron Man. Even if RDJ comes back for Cap 3....he would have 1 more film after that right? Possibly none?

You need a Stark rep even if Stark never appears again, they've made Stark industries a big player in this world. To just disappear, would be odd.

Feminists would go crazy if the MCU offs 2-3 women in one movie

Princess Amadala wasn't thrilled about being in the Thor sequel without Branaugh directing. She's prime for a series exit of a death.

Yeah but they are not of any importance, they are love interests. Besides, Marvel still has the important female characters- Widow, Hill, Scarlet Witch,Sif.

What would turn Tony into a what he was in the Civil War storyline (death of loved ones)? What would split the team up (Tony's creation killing loved ones)? What would take Thor off the board in Civil War, returning him to Asgard and pairing him with Sif(killing Jane)? What's the best way to honor a senile old woman (having her die heroically)? What's the best way for Ross to come back into the fold (killing his daughter)? What's the best way to make the audience happy(killing Paltrow)?

Good point.

When will we see him?!?

Such a good character, and I wonder if Bettany is in for a few more movies.

Don't know if it's been talked about yet, but I'm guessing they used mo cap for Ultron. You can really see Spader's performance in his face.

Actually, adamantium I believe was a failed experiment to create vibranium, so it's really even stronger than adamantium.

Ultron was made of adamantium though, right?

So is he not made of adamantium because it's a fox property?

Some of that is not official, although it's looking more and more like there will be a Civil War.

I think there's going to be less "Civil War," and more "Battle of Ideals between Stark and Rogers." Civil War is just the best example of that. But it's motivations were about a HUGE population of heroes and how that affected the universe as a whole. And Spider-Man's reveal was integral to that whole story, we don't have a Spider-Man to make that point.

They'll take the key ideas, Stark vs. Cap, What are "heroes?" What's fair with government involvement in the protection of citizens by using citizens? Etc. and transplant that into this universe. If they do "Civil War" it's going to be stripped down significantly.
