New place on Seigen next to Planet Fitness and Carmax.
I had the opportunity to eat there yesterday and expected it to be just like any other Greek place. This place proved me wrong. The food was really good and it had a really nice atmosphere. I got the combination platter (gyro and chicken) with side salad and some rice(forgot the name). The meat was very moist and had great flavor and the rice was delicious.
Next time you are in the area I recommend giving this place a try.

Is this place Greek or more Middle Eastern?

I'd say its more Greek. Its a better option than Albasha or Serops.

More middle eastern or Lebanese. Not full-on, authentic Greek like Zorba's.
Really good food, though. I've been there several times. I recommend the kafta kabobs or lamb kabobs. Might have some of the best Lebanese food in town.

I used to rarely eat middle eastern food. One of my favorite taprooms has a Lebanese/Persian restaurant right next door that is really good. Since the taproom doesn't serve food, I get food from there delivered to the taproom occasionally. Really loving that type of food. Lentil soup, kabobs, Schawarma, etc... Lots of healthy/vegetarian options, too.

I could eat that type of food for days and never get tired of it.

The reason I ask is most of the restaurants people refer to as Greek on this board are more Middle Eastern.

I can't stand most Mediterranean food, but I order lentil soup from Zoroona anytime I'm feeling bad.

Your are the first person I have ever heard say they don't like Middle Eastern food.

Can't stand it. Even have ordered "sampler platters" to try everything.
The schwarma stuff is fine, but let's face it.. it's rotisserie chicken. I don't consider that the embodiment of Middle Eastern food.

I actually ate there today. Had the fried cheese which was delicious. Ordered the combination plate with chicken schwarma and beef; the chicken was about the best I've had in BR. It was very moist but crispy on the outside. The beef was fantastic, though - It was sauteed with grilled onions and had a hint of rosemary.

Me and the girlfriend at there tonight with our neighbor. I was very pleased with the atmosphere and the service was top notch. The food was also amazing. I'm big on eating mediterarranean food, and really enjoyed the different flare they bring compared to the other places. The rosemary bread was great, I really loved the dressing on the feta salad. I had the Mediterranean chicken, with a side of asparagus and the potatoes. I will be eating there again

Bill Qasem and Co do a great job. And for BR folks tired of the very slight nuanced differences between Vasken's Serops, and many of his former proteges and their places like Arzi's, Romans,etc..or even Albasha..
Zoroona isn't cookie-cutter, they have unique takes on much of the menu, and nice portions. Leave room for for the hoemmade desserts too!

The portions were huge. I wish i had left room for desert. I agree Zoroona is far from cookie cutter or just a slightly different twist.

Put me solid in the favorable camp... went a month or so ago with the wife and I really enjoyed it. It was a lot nicer than I was expecting though, we stopped in after the gym and I definitely felt underdressed... oh well. They didn't seem to care, and the food was delicious. Definitely will go back when I'm on that side of town.

I eat there weekly, easily the best in Baton Rouge.

+1
I think the food at Zoroona is solid. I need to go back soon to try out more of the menu.

I agree. I've eaten here several times since my last post in October and the place continues to impress me.
