SIAP. Did a quick search.

Advocate Article
quote:

Five of the top 10 districts are in the Baton Rouge metropolitan area and all have A grades from the state. Livingston Parish, which was ranked 16th last year, burst into the top 10, and improved from its overall district grade from a B to an A.

Every school graded in Zachary had an A, and the district as a whole improved 5.3 points.

quote:

While the largest school district in the metro area, the East Baton Rouge Parish school system, showed a slight improvement, it still kept an overall C ranking. The parish schools as a whole improved from 80.3 to 81.3, falling short of the 85 points needed for a B grade. Other districts improved at a faster rate, so the school system’s ranking also dropped from 41 to 43 out of Louisiana’s 72 districts.

I have heard rumblings that the Zachary people have been cheating on the standardized tests by going back and changing kids answers to inflate their score…and that the Zachary school system isn't as squeaky clean as they are made out to be…..anyone else hear this?

Hadn't heard about that. Probably happens more often than not, tbh.

I'm sure if St. George makes it and establishes a school district, people like LSURussian will spread rumors like that.

Just think what EBR's test scores will be once the St. George school district is formed.

Zachary remains the top school district in Louisiana, but Central is right behind it, shooting from seventh to third place in the latest academic rankings of school districts, according to performance scores released Monday.

How anyone can see results like this and still be against the St. George ISD is beyond me.

You are damned right it happens more often than not. Principals jobs are on the line with those test scores and the teachers get rated based on the scores. I have always been skeptical about the whole process.

Legislative auditor concluded (as did the two prior audits) that better record-keeping is necessary, since each school keeps their own paper records.

quote:

“We found that the maintenance for these paper records varied greatly from school to school,” it says. “This inconsistency in paper record maintenance causes difficulties for school administration and/or third parties (auditors and regulatory bodies) to locate records.”

It's a double-edged sword. Because schools/teachers need to be accountable, and what other standards are there/can there be that are readily available to the government to pick apart?

NOLA public schools doing work these days.

Franklin is still the gold standard, but Lusher is making fantastic headway. It's incredible.

Rumblings such as those typically come from parents of kids who weren't the best students and had bad experiences with the administration. They leave the system, then make up stories as to why they left so they can tarnish the system and save face.

Even the letter grade of "C" for EBRPSS is misleading. Schools that have been placed in the RSD no longer count towards the system's overall grade. It was 7 schools last year.

It makes the grade letters that Zachary, central, LP even more impressive.

For the Recovery School District, six of the 10 schools it oversaw in the Baton Rouge metro area improved their scores. Pointe Coupee Central saw the most growth, while Kenilworth Science & Technology suffered the biggest drop, 9.5 points, slipping from a C to a D grade.

Of those 10 schools, only Kenilworth remains open. The other nine schools have been closed. In some cases they’ve been replaced by new charter schools.
