UM seriously pursued Miles at least once. It was torpedoed from within, though.

from within UM...supposedly, there is one VERY INFLUENTIAL individual that does not want Miles....so until such person retires

Miles has been a winner his whole life, as a player and coach. He was a great recruiter as an assistant coach and his recruiting ability is a big reason for the success at Oklahoma St.

It's way harder to recruit well at a school like Okie St, in a state without a big quantity of talented high school recruits, and he recruited well even with Stoops and OU in direct competition. So it's fair to assume to recruiting for a school like Michigan wouldn't be all that hard for Miles.

This is nothing against Miles.... Players want the better climate and surroundings.... UM has great extras. But at the same time, ITS COLD UP THERE........... YES he would have trouble..............

I realize recruiting sites are an imperfect science, but, their last 3 classes are comparable to an sec school.

Brady hoke is just bad on gameday. In theory, miles would get plenty of talent in Michigan. He is a good recruiter. Lsu doesn't just "sell itself"

Urban Meyer accomplished more at UF than Saban did at LSU. Boom followed Meyer and burned the fricking ship down. Hell look at what Zook did to Spurrier's masterpiece.

Les followed Saban and has become the most successful coach in the history of the program. ITS HARD WORK COACHING IN THIS LEAGUE NO MATTER WHAT CIRCUMSTANCES YOU COME IN UNDER. Stop acting like the guy just shows up and collects a check.

That's kind of like saying Alabama has won 15.

He only won one that wasn't split (1968). They were only undefeated and untied for one other (1954). I mention that because in both 1957 and 1961 Ohio St. had worse records than the teams they split with. Also, when you played only 9 or 10 instead of 13 or 14, undefeated and untied wasn't generally too much to ask.

The 1970 one was a joke. They were #2 in both major polls going into the bowls, and then they lost the Rose Bowl to #12 Stanford.

That said, I would of course agree that he was a better big-game coach, at least until 1968. He only won 2 of 8 bowl games after that point.

Exactly. Who else has taken over a program after someone like Saban and IMPROVED it? I really want to know someone who has done that to a comparable level.

For starters, LSU was 30-9 in Saban's last three seasons. They were 34-6 in Miles' first three seasons.

Saban left Miles with ALOT of good talent... BUT hey BASH me all you want.......... Miles is a decent coach.... Is he top 5??? Maybe... But he needs a better season NEXT year to see what he can really do HERE....... ALL I am saying is that the way he uses this SO-CALLED 5 star talent would be interesting at Michigan when he would ONLY get 4 star talent at best there............

You know how many guys got the keys to the Jag and freaking destroyed it?

Kragthorpe got the keys to a Lexus at Louisville and pissed it away.

Coker got the keys to a Cadillac at Miami, road around like a scrub in his best friend's ride for a while then went bust.

Lane Kiffin took over a Mercedes with a couple of dings in it and completely totaled it.

Luke Fickel got to drive the short bus at Ohio State and clearly wasn't up to par.

Hell even Derrick Mason got the keys to a Camry at Vandy and set it on fire.

I already mentioned Zook and Boom.

Lots of guys get handed the keys to a nice ride and simply can't handle it, bruh. You act like anyone could have waltzed in here and been successful. Thats just not the case.
