Being reported on CNN now, but I don't have an article to link to yet. The CDC is reporting it.

Here is the article from the Huffington Post:

Because she may have been sick earlier than officials believed, the CDC is expanding their investigation to people the 29-year-old nurse may have come into contact with over the weekend. Included are passengers who were on her flight to Cleveland, Fox 8 Cleveland reported.

So, if true, are we still absolving the nurses of all blame?

Just trying to keep my partisan narratives straight.

I don't blame them for getting infected. That is on the hospital. I do blame this nurse for acting recklessly knowing that she was at risk.

Agreed. If I knew I was a possible risk, I would make arrangements quarantine myself for a month. Certainly wouldn't hop on a plane.

Reports today said that Vinson called the CDC to ask them if it would be okay for her to travel on a commercial flight. She told them that her temp was 99.5, and since it was below the 100.4 threshold, they gave her approval to go.

Looks to me like the combination of the 99.5 PLUS the fact that she had taken care of Dunson would've been a red flag.

In fact, just the fact that she had cared for Dunson should've kept her off that plane.

Multiple sources, including Frieden, himself, have verified that Vinson consulted with the CDC before her flight, and she received permission to fly. Her fever was below what the CDC considers problematic.

Vinson flew because the CDC screwed up.

Some medical professionals can't be deputize to do the "self-monitoring" due to their competence levels. That says it all.

Well, for starters, people need to quit calling it a fever since her "fever" was below the definition of what classifies as a fever, therefore making her "fever" not a fever at all.

Could she have symptoms on Friday, as they are now saying is possible, and still have a temp of 99.5 on Monday? What leads them to believe she had symptoms as early as Friday?

Are you serious, Scruffy?

99.5 temperature PLUS the fact that she had been a primary caretaker for Dunson.

You should go to work for the CDC, Scruffy. That's the same mindset that told her it was okay to fly to Cleveland.....and back.

I really don't know what to think about this whole situation. Hindsight makes it easy to say that she shouldn't have traveled. It is interesting to see how our hindsight bias emerges and something that wouldn't have been considered a fever (or just barely at the lower bound) is now an obvious sign of a virus that is not extremely easy to transmit.
