SOL but I miss the Sopranos...

Hit me in the shower this morning just how much.
Interesting to speculate what would have happened if they stayed on, maybe after a couple a years hiatus to recharge the batteries.
AJ a continual frick up trying to to please his dad as a good a mid level soldier, with a kid and a bitch for a girlfriend ( kennedy maybe).
Meadow slowly growing into a brilliant and ruthless consigliere .
Tony just being Tony , screwing hot Gumors keeping his guys in line and trying to not get whacked in the process or stabbed in the eyes by Carmela, the love of his life.
And the best character on the show--Carmela struggling with her hypocrisy of hating the life but loving the lifestyle it brings her. Maybe driving her to alcoholism.
Maybe a flash back to what actually happened to Adrian.
Great new characters like Ralphie and Steve Buscemi.
Hell I even miss the damn intro song...
ETA: Can't forget about Sil.

These are two things I think they really missed the boat on and could have done so much with.
Who knows, maybe they didn't want to pursue the A.J. getting into the business angle because he was a horrendous actor and they didn't want to invest anymore effort into trotting him out, and maybe they thought they'd gotten as much as they could from the Carmela life/lifestyle plot? The way Breaking Bad walked the line with Skyler, I think Sopranos could've done more with Carmela.

Ralph Cifaretto never should have been whacked. He and Buscemi together would have been great.
AJ was the weak link. Carmela and Meadow were solid.

I miss it too. I scroll by it every now and then on Amazon Prime and I also click it. The wife's never seen it. Maybe one day she'll develop a decent interest in tv shows.

Agreed also wish they didn't whack Mikey P so soon, he was my favorite character early on
Hoe! You hear me? Go take a midol!

And then the news interviews her later "He was going for a run, the last thing he told me was that he loved me"

I'm midway through season three and I'm in love. I've always had mafia movies as my favorite so the show is perfect for me.

I think they addressed the notion of the kids getting involved.
Tony wasn't happy with Meadow dating the son of an associate and wanted a different life for her.
Don't remember the exact situation anymore, but one of the times AJ got mixed up with rougher kids, Tony sat him down to explain why he was disappointed, telling AJ "you're a good guy."
Also, when AJ was hanging out with the party kids and asked Tony to stake him in a club, he and Carmela insisted AJ go back to college.
No way he wanted AJ in the life, especially after trying and failing to groom Chris.

Every time I watch an HBO show and they do this intro:
I hear that "sccccchhhhhhh... aaaaaaah" and the Sopranos song starts playing in my head.
You know what I'm talking about?

because he was a horrendous actor
Yeah - I picked up on that the first time. Rewatch just confirms it.
I have to admit that I may have judged Falco too harshly on my first watch. She played Carmela the way they wanted. It's not really her fault that the character is just so hit and miss. I blame the writing of her character, more so than any direction or acting failures.
Another problem is that she shared so many scenes with Gandolfini - he was such a good actor, and this is his acting masterpiece, it's tough not to look bad by comparison.
Which brings me back to AJ and Meadow - AJ was a lost cause. You can't tell how bad an actor is going to be when he's cast as a kid. He didn't develop as an actor and I believe that limited what they could do with the character.
Sigler, on the other hand, was pretty bad at first, but kind of found her legs as the series wore on. They didn't do her any favors when they cast Finn - Will Janowitz was crazy good as Finn - he had only been acting, professionally, for a couple of years when he was cast - in several of their scenes (the main one I'm thinking of is when he starts to pack to leave because of Vito) he makes her look like a first year theater student, by comparison.
But, the gangster casting of that show gets an A grade.
