Superman Was Too Powerful to be Interesting in Man of Steel

Reading the DC/Marvel threads and thinking about the upcoming movies, I wanted to get this off of my chest.
In Man of Steel, they made Superman WAY too powerful. He was not like that in the original comics or TV show with George Reeves (he would punch criminals and they would just fall down) or even in the Christopher Reeve movies (when a bus was thrown on him you really wondered if he was ok).
After Superman essentially destroyed Metropolis in the fight with Zod by being thrown into buildings and wrecking them, it is as though they made him TOO strong. How is he going to face off against Batman? Against anyone?
They overdid it with the special effects and I am really not interested in someone having a pocket full of kryptonite to neutralize him.
How do you make the new Superman even remotely interesting now?

Why "yawn"?
I have seen every Superman movie ever made and am pretty familiar with the character. Tell me how you make this iteration interesting? It is like he is "god" or something.

It was pretty entertaining to me. I guess I just don't get the Man of Steel hate.

Yeah, I don't care. I am telling you what a think. A hero has to have a vulnerability and it needs to be more than green rocks. He was too powerful. I just think that in the last movie they amped him up TOO much.

God forbid someone has a new take on a character that isn't the same as EVERY other version made

It wasn't that he was too powerful, it's that the level of power and the tone of the fights did not reflect the intended tone.
His level of power would have been fine.....in an Avengers film or something similar. But by making him so powerful, and the film so seemingly grounded, you get something incongruent in product. It made no sense, it was almost disorienting.
Add to the fact that the level of damage was never given a second thought, and the "Reality," of the film becomes broken.
Like I said, the film tries to be far too serious, therefore the impact of the "superheroic" moments fall flat.

Just like everything else, these are two different films, with two different tones. Hulk and Thor work in Avengers perfectly fine. But just because they work there, doesn't mean a similarly powerful hero works in a completely different film with completely different goals.

Point is, Hulk fights Iron Man. A human in armor.

The movie sucked for several reasons, him being overpowered was not one of them. He should be way stronger than regular humans. Zod was an even match for him.

First, when did this happen?
Second, why does this matter? The MCU is trying to reflect the Silver Age of Comics. A loose reality, fun tone, flexible levels of power and a need for a healthy suspension of disbelief. It works.
Iron Man vs. Hulk is fine. Iron Man has already been hit by Mjlonir a couple of times. And that's ok. Just assume the armor is some kind of near-admantium composite. Done. The movie isn't asking you to contemplate anything like the chemical makeup of a morphing USB drive.

Since I was a child, I have always viewed Superman as 100% unstoppable unless you have kryptonite. So it is impossible to make him too powerful
