Has anyone else tried Capital City Crawfish on Government Street

right next to the Piggly Wiggly behind Superior?
I was at a garage sale and the lady running it mentioned that her son owned a crawfish place that now sells po'boys and boudin. Anyways, I gave the place a shot and it's legit. Po'boys are made with Leidenheimer bread (I tried the oyster, which could have used more oysters, but was tasty with a solid batter and perfect bread, obviously). Boudin comes from Poche's in Breaux Bridge. The boiled crabs are legit as well. He also has some of Poche's specialties in freezer like deboned chickens stuffed with spinach Madeline and gator paddies.
I'd say it's definitely worth a trip for those around Mid City.

Thanks for the tip. Was always leery because of the dude standing outside in the crawfish suit.

He was a homeless guy who wanted a job so the owner hired him. Did well enough there to get more jobs at surrounding businesses. He's no longer homeless.

might try it out now
Please do. I like Poche's boudin and Leidenheimer bread a lot. It's really convenient to where I live, so I want it to stay open

A good friend of mine and his wife were raving about the place on Facebook a week or so ago. Need to check it out.

I've tried to check it out a few times, but they keep sort of strange hours.

They're open 11-7 on 6 days a week and they're open 11-4 on Sundays, but only during crawfish season.

I went last crawfish season to talk to somebody about prices. I got there 10 minutes before closing and they had the doors locked and wouldn't let me in to talk to them. Just stood there on the other side of the locked doors shaking their heads no. So no business from me ever.

It's under new management since then. Different owner.

It's the only place to get decent Cracklin in the general area. I go there too often. I also like their crabs and need to try the poboys.

Tried it a few weeks ago. Just grabbed a couple of links of boudin because I had a craving. Went to order a poboy on Sunday, sad to find out they are closed on Sunday's. I'll hit them up again soon
