My first time going. Was fun to see but holy shite, traffic was far worse than after any lsu/bama game. 2.5 hours to get to st francisville from Angola.

People coming up with the games for the rodeo are some sick bastards. Felt Like I was in Rome watching someone put up against lions.

Yep it was awesome,

All this was 2.5 hours to leave the prison. 90% of that wait was waiting to leave the frickin parking lot.

What's the best route? I know go up 61 to Tunica Trace (66) but I've never been to the actual rodeo and I'm going this weekend.

So y'all are saying just skeet out a little early so I can get back to a football friendly place?

61 to tunica trc is the only way I know of.

Whatever you do buy anything you want and put it in your truck early and get in line to get out first.

I got to my vehicle at 4:30 and gave up at 5 trying to drive closer to pick up items. Parked and carried items

Then moved about 30 feet over next 60 minutes. I wish I were exaggerating here.

How do they get the inmates to wear those saddles?

We are talking a rodeo where the inmates are the bulls, right? I've never been.

Well you can leave early but then you miss where they throw 15 convicts in the ring and then throw a really pissed off bull in the ring with a chip worth 500 dollars tied hard on its ear.

Hard to miss that

Everyone of you have entirely over-exaggerated the traffic. I left at the end of the event at 4 and got to St. Francisville before 5.

With that said, the Angola Prison Rodeo is a riot. The mix of emotions from laughter, to excitement, to anxiousness, to the small sense of pride you get from seeing people (although bad people) get their rare minute of fame outside of a prison cell for life. It's all great

No it's more like 4 crooks sitting at a poker table and then the rush a bull head off at them. With clowns waiving on the other side of the table. Last one to leave his chair wins....

I have never been to a rodeo before that. I'm guessing this isn't common.

No fricking way. Unless you ran to your car.

I bought a couple of items my wife wanted. No exaggeration at all. 2.5 fricking hours to get to st francisville. My in laws who didn't buy anything didn't get off site for an hour. So it was a little better for them. I made it home 8:15-830 last night.

I'm not trying to call you a liar, but I thought traffic was well handled yesterday. Once they got me past the parking lot and up on the levee by the river, it was smooth sailing. The front gate was a little congested, but heading out on 66 was a ghost town. I was amazed at the time I made from Angola back to New Orleans

that was the key right there. Last sunday, thats the route my buddy took and I went the way we came in. He was at the museum 15 minutes later and it took me over an hour to get to the gate

The levee moved faster it seems but they stopped letting people take the levee. I parked there but they directed me to the front for package pickup. Really wish I were lying. As great as it was I don't know if I want to put up with that BS again.

Consider yourself lucky.
