The site has been quietly redirected to its parent company
BoxOfficeMojo.com has been shut down, as the site currently redirects to IMDb.
Box Office Mojo was bought by IMDb in 2008 and seems to have been absorbed by its parent company, which itself is owned by Amazon.
Box Office Mojo is a critical tool for movie industry executives in Hollywood who look to the site for real-time box office results and historical and comparative data. It was founded in 1999 as a three-person company headquartered in Burbank by Brandon Gray.
IMDB has a vast collection of data on films, but is lacking in detailed data on box office metrics. It is unknown if or how IMDB will incorporate the box office data into its system. The layout for Box Office Mojo is set up solely for an in depth look at box office metrics, while IMDB has many roles, including showing trailers, cast lists and fan commentary.
IMDB has not responded to request for comment by TheWrap. There has been no comment from the company via Twitter or on the site itself.

this sucks. it was easily the best site for tracking numbers both domestically and internationally.

Boooooo!
Why don't they fold the tracking stuff into IMDB?

That's insane. They spent a fortune on a marginally competing site so that they could shut it down?

The only thing I can think if is they may roll it into their paid IMDB Pro service. That would suck if that happened.
Hopefully this is just some sort of server issue but I feel like that might be wishful thinking.

For right now, that's exactly what is going on. You can see the current box office totals for the week, for any other info you need to purchase IMDB Pro.

I didn't even know that site existed, so they probably should've marketed better

BoxOfficeMojo was fantastic, this blows.

This sucks. I hit that site regularly.

Wow. Had no idea Amazon owned IMDB. Kudus to both Box Office Mojo and IMDB. I've used those sites since the early frontier days of the web. I assume the guys who started them made some piles of cash.
Shame if IMDB charges for the content from Mojo.
First Television without Pity dies and now this.

This blows, Mojo(along with newspapers, and entertainment industry papers/sites), was my main way for handicapping theatre count on openings for betting purposes.
Nailed Pinny, CRIS, Bodog, on multiple max limits plays for The Dark Knight as all-time #1..had Mojo's page/updates opened up all week leading into the Thursday Midnight showings.

could have been down for a redesign. Not sure because I haven't visited in quite some time.

When IMDb purchased Mojo in 2008, readers were assured that the box-office site would remain a standalone business. IMDb did not immediately respond to EW‘s request for comment.

IMDB did update their site, so I wouldn't be surprised if there was some integration or upgrading done to Mojo too.
Although, now that I think of it, it would have been easy to say that thus it probably had nothing to do with the upgrade.
