ok i could see this in some of the less developed countries, but not a country like Norway.

Did you read the article? It's a fake blog written by some group wanting to send a message about child brides.

They go on to mention countries like Bangladesh and Niger... which are predominantly Muslim.

Basically they're saying Muslims need to stop marrying little girls... but they didn't want to actually use a Muslim in their fake blog.

More PC bullshite.

I like how the organization is using the "so ok we made this one up completely but it could have been true" approach to getting awareness. It will certainly make me buy into the "seriously though this ones for real" story to follow

Everyone's favorite hero, Muhammed, took a 9 year old bride.

That's why reading is important.

It says nothing about this being a problem in Norway

maybe not common but the fact that it's legal is what gets me

It's not legal in Norway for a 12 year old girl to marry. The legal age in Norway is 18 (it goes as low as 16 with parental consent and permission from the county governor).

Some of you people seriously lack reading comprehension skills.

It's a fake blog to speak out against ISLAMIC CHILD BRIDES. IT ISN'T ABOUT NORWAY.

I agree Terd.
Muslims are filthy pedophiles, murderers and/or boy buggerers.

and it's not now...not sure what you mean by that. not meant to be a smartass, maybe i just wasn't clear what i meant. Like some others pointed out it used to be common in the US for girls that young to be married (which i didn't realize to that extent) but now there are laws against it. I'm just shocked its not illegal in all the developed countries.

My wife's grandmother was wed at 12. Really common not long ago.

Maybe in the fricking swamp where she comes from, but 12 year old brides have not been common in America really ever, and in Europe at least since the 1700s. It's just plain fricked up.
