He was asked to exit the vehicle because he reached in or near the middle console. (that's what the cops said). It might be bullshite, but that's the reason they gave for requiring him to step out of the vehicle.
Sounds like "reached for my gun" or "moved towards me menacingly".
In other words, bullshite.

I say all cops are pos. There are really great cops but at the same time they know who the rogue/bad ones are and they back them up/go to bat for them/and enable them. So they are just as guilty.
I usually hate generalizations, but I find myself starting to think this as well. Everyone of these sort of videos involve multiple officers standing around watching the other infringe on the rights of citizens. Not often do you see a video of a cop stepping in to protect our rights when his buddy is trying to push the boundaries.

I don't have a problem with this particular case, just really don't care
I just hate how the media has the opportunity to educate the public on Maryland V. Wilson and doesn't do it. They leave the public believing they can refuse to exit the car. Their bad journalism will lead to more problems

Yes you do. Did you read the article? Here in Louisiana you must exit the vehicle when requested on a traffic stop. Te article is also very vague and doesn't mention whether he had a weapon or not.

Black male passenger
No seatbelt
The only conclusion can be that he has a gun. That cop has to be in line for detective after that.

What if the passenger has a fear for his life?

It said the driver actually called 911 because they were so scared of the cops after he pulled a gun on them

The SCOTUS handed down a decision, we don't have to like it, we just have to follow it

Wouldn't roll the window down. Reached into the back seat.

Could it possibly be an a-hole cop, regardless of what race the passenger was?

Definitely it could be. He would have reacted the same with a trashy white guy.
I don't think he would have done the same to a white woman in a BMW SUV.

I roll my eyes whenever I read arrest reports.
"Driver smelled of marijuana; bloodshot eyes"
"I observed driver placing something underneath his seat."
"Driver had slurred speech."
All the time. Gee whiz, officer, you must be really lucky to have EVERY routine traffic stop turn into a warrantless search of a vehicle. Yuck Yuck.
