Gizmo was one of the eager young recruits who excelled at the H.I.V.E. Academy. Along with his fellow cadets Jinxand Mammoth, he accepted a mission to destroy the Teen Titans. What Gizmo didn't realize, however, was that the architect behind their mission was not really the H.I.V.E., but one of their clients, the mysterious mercenary Slade. Priding himself on his mechanical wizardry, Gizmo enjoyed taunting the Titans, particularly Cyborg. He once severed one of Cyborg's mechanical arms and mounted it on a plaque.
