I just hope too many people don't become heroes and it becomes too jumbled. I like the story to stay focused around Oliver..

I am guessing they will keep on for quite awhile. We still haven't seen Oliver really train yet or any explanation as to how he became such a great fighter. Plus he had to have spend a lot of time in Russia while he was gone, since he is so highly connected in the Russian mob.
I don't think the flashbacks are meant to show as much about his physical training but more to show how he changes as a person from the spoiled playboy to vigilante. I like them.
I liked last nights episode. I think the direction they went without Ollie worked, I just hope it doesn't stay that way too long. Having Maseo save him was a good idea. I kinda thought that Nyssa might be involved because I think she knew the whole time that Oliver didn't actually kill Sara, but I think the way they went was the best route.
I also wonder if Laurel will jump right into team Arrow or will be going rouge for a while. Either way, I've actually somewhat liked her transition so far this season.
Also, during the winter break I rewatched season 1 and started season 2. I think the season 1 flashbacks were my favorite so far. I also love that Oliver's solution to every family problem is to throw a party
And its hilarious that every time someone like Laurel or Thea was mad at Ollie they threw out the whole "you don't know what I've been through" bit. Yeah, the guy who was stranded on an island for 5 years has no idea how tough life can be

Also, for the comic readers, 2 questions:
1.) Is the Atom essentially the DC version of Iron Man?
2.) I thought about this recently with the discussion of the Lazarus pit in here. In Batman Begins when Ra's shows up at Bruce Wayne's party and says something about being immortal, is that supposed to be a reference to the Lazarus Pit? I mean, I guess it seems obvious now but I never heard about the Lazarus Pit until this thread.

Not really, he's more the DC version of Ant Man (though I think the Atom existed long before Ant Man). In the comics he has the ability to shrink down. They were originally going to use Ted Kord a.k.a Blue Beetle (who is much more like Iron Man) this season but apparently WB has other plans for the character so they used Ray Palmer instead. I dont know if they intend to have him shrink down or if the Atom will be more Blue Beetle like.

I dont really remember him talking about being immortal in the movie but I doubt thats what he was referring to, I imagine it was more of a symbolic statement. But the Lazarus Pits are huge part of Ras al Ghul's lore in the comics.
I was always under the impression that the pit Bain throws Bruce into in TDKR was Nolans interpretation of the Lazarus Pit. Bruce/Talia/Baine were "reborn" when they climbed out of the pit.

Bruce Wayne: You're not Ra's al Ghul. I watched him die.
Henri Ducard: [from behind Bruce Wayne] But is Ra's al Ghul immortal?
[Bruce turns around to face Ducard]
Henri Ducard: Are his methods supernatural?
Bruce Wayne: [to Ducard] Or cheap parlor tricks to conceal your true identity, "Ra's"?
Henri Ducard: Surely, a man who spends his nights scrambling over the rooftops of Gotham wouldn't begrudge me dual identities?
Bruce Wayne: I saved your life.
Henri Ducard: I warned you about compassion, Bruce.
I don't think it was about the pits but I could be wrong. I am not a reader of the comics. My knowledge of the pits has come from this thread. In the movie, Bruce was referring to the person he thought was Ras when he said this, not the Liam Neeson charachter.

I'm pretty sure that the Lazarus Pits didn't exist in Nolan's universe. But I'd bet Nolan threw those lines about being immortal and supernatural as kind of easter eggs for the comic fans.

Maybe I was just misinterpreting it. Guess I need to watch Batman Begins again soon

From r/arrow this guy is either a genius or wearing a tin foil hat
quote:
For weeks now, we have been baffled by the true purpose of the shadowy and enigmatic man known as the Douchebag DJ. There have been hundreds of interesting theories about his identity. He's been suspected of being the Reverse Flash, Metron, Barry Allen from the future, Mazrim Taim, Martian Manhunter, a drone strike, the next Green Arrow, Booster Gold, Rorschach, Wolverine, and the Cabbage Guy. But after many long sleepless nights of going over the facts, I have finally figured out who he really is.
First, I'll list what we know about the Douchebag DJ.
• His name is Chase. Likely his full name is Chase Young as a reference to both the amazing animated series Xiaolin Showdown and Young Justice.
• He wants half the take at the door.
• He plays the song Turn Down For What.
• He is a DJ.
• He sexually assaults Thea Queen.
• He can lay down some sick beats.
This may not seem like much, but it tells us enough to make everything clear.
First, let's think about the importance of names, which are used in some DC shows to give us a hint about the characters. For example, in the cartoon Beware the Batman Spoiler a guy called Dane Wislow turns out to be Slade. You can rearrange the letters in Dane Wisslow to make the name Slade Wilson.
This tells us that we should rearrange the letters in the Douchebag DJ's name to find out his true identity. But since they have only revealed his first name Chase (even though his last name is clearly Young), then that must mean they want us to rearrange the letters of his profession.
DJ stands for Disc Jockey. Rearrange the letters in Disc Jockey and what do you get?
CY IS DC JOKE
CY obviously stands for his name, Chase Young. And DC Joke? That could only be the Joker.
So there you have it. Chase, the Douchebag DJ, is the Joker.
Knowing that, we can look back and see all the other hints to his identity. His sick beats are a reference to how his comic counterpart beat Jason Todd to death with a crowbar. As well, the Joker hasn't appeared on Gotham. We all thought it was because they wanted to do him in a way faithful to the character. However, similar to how Teen Titans, The Batman, and Justice League Unlimited couldn't use each other's villains, it's because Gotham can't use a villain that will be on Arrow.
As well, Chase is being set up as Thea's new love interest. Her previous love interest was Roy, who wears a red hoodie. In The Killing Joke, the Joker's transformation happened because he was replacing the Red Hood, much like Chase's transformation into the Joker will happen because he is replacing the Red Hoodie.
However, since Arrow is heavily influenced by the Nolan Batman films, it is highly likely that this Joker will be heavily influenced by the one from The Dark Knight. Let's look at their similarities, shall we?
• He's being set up as the guy Oliver fights after Ra's al Ghul and a fear-based drug dealer.
• He demands half the take, much like the Joker demands half of the mobsters' money.
• He plays the song Turn Down For What. "For What?" is a question that represents the ultra nihilistic Joker seen in the movie. For what are fighting for? For what are we living for? Deep.
• He sexually assaults Thea, much like the Joker does to Rachel Dawes.
• He turns all the attention in the room to him with his sick beats, like how the Joker turns all the attention in the room to him when he crashes the fundraiser.
• He gets everybody excited like magic. The Joker does a magic trick.
• He is introduced at an audition. After his "Why so serious?" speech, the Joker makes people audition for the role of his helper.
The only thing this Joker lacks from his The Dark Knight incarnation is the scars, but since this is a CW show, nobody is allowed to have facial deformities. He probably has a happy face carved into his stomach.
With all of my proof, it is now undeniable that Chase Young, the Douchebag DJ, is the Joker. I wonder how Team Arrow will fare against this legendary foe.

The Atom is DC's version of Quality Comics' golden age character "Doll Man". When DC updated their golden age characters for the 60's, Barry Allen replaced the golden age Flash (Jay Garrick) and Ray Palmer replaced the golden age Atom (who was just a short but powerful man, not a size changing hero).
Marvel's Ant-Man followed soon after. Ray Palmer was more of a science hero, shrinking down to sub-atomic levels. Ant-man shrinks down to the size of an ant.
The A.T.O.M. armor is a new twist (as is Ray as a billionaire genius). Ray was originally a college professor who discovered the dwarf star matter that allowed him to shrink. Arrow Ray purchased the dwarf star matter from Mr. Gardner (named after Gardner Fox, the author who created The Atom).
On Arrow, the Atom is taking the place of Blue Beetle, who is more in line with the billionaire tech guy who builds gadgets to battle crime. Blue Beetle wasn't made available to the Arrow producers, so they went with an altered version of the Atom instead.
