think we should "just reload" and beat the #2 and #3 teams in the country?

Look at what we lost last year to NFL Training camps:
Offense:
1 QB
2 RBs
4 WRs (1 got cut, so 3)
1 OL
Defense
2 DL
1 LB
1 DB (cut)
Now which one of you would honestly think that after having ALL of that talent leave, that we would beat the #2 and #3 teams in the country?
Give me a break......

First of all, MSU wasn't the 3rd best team in the country when we played them
Second, it's not that we're expected to beat the 2nd and 3rd best team in the nation. But at least look competitive. We've gotten our asses completely whipped in both games
And losing players to the NFL is part of college football. Good thing we reel in top 10 recruiting classes. You'd think our coaches could develop our players and with the resources and facilities we have at our program, we'd at least look competitive in conference games

the thing that's dumb is most people expected LSU to get gashed by Auburn, but when it actually happened they still freaked out about it.

We should be able to compete at least...even if we don't win.

we weren't even in the games with either of them...don't give me that bs comeback against st they completely dominated us and could/should have scored a td before we started coming back

We will know more in 2 weeks after the FL and KY games.
No reason in hell LSU should lose either of those. If so, serious changes need to be considered.

Why do we have so many positions where the best player at that position is a true freshman?

Most people expected to lose 41-7 in a game that actually played much worse than the score? Go back and read the prediction thread, goober.

Losing isn't necessarily the issue. I think most before the season felt that AU would be a loss. MSU also looked good coming into the season and there was a feeling of "if it's going to happen, it's going to happen this year."
The problem (at least from my perspective) is not the losses, but sheer unwillingness to deviate from an approach that has already proven to be ineffective. They started Harris on Sat. and promptly put him in the exact same position to fail as they have with Jennings. If you're going to change QBs, at least try to play to that guy's perceived strengths

Maybe not in the rankings.
In reality? They might have been.

Exactly, such a fricking idiotic point by the poster you quoted. It's one thing to be rebuilding and lose 4 or so games but while being competitive. For example, look at Florida in 07 they lost 4 but were extremely competitive in doing so. We aren't competitive at all and that's unacceptable. 4 losses is fine with a tough division and being young, but we are getting beat as if we are Vanderbilt. It should never happen and fans should not be ok with it.

It's not that we lost.
It's the fact we got dominated, in all phases of the game, by both teams.
Youth isn't an excuse when you allow over 1100 yards in two games and fail to get any offense going in two games. Good, young teams can still hang with top ten teams. The problem is we are not a good young team.

This is a stupid statement
They're the same team
The rankings of teams improve throughout the season
