Man... Hopefully I'll order them either this week or the next. Let's just say I'm gonna be busy for the next couple weeks with the recent happenings being in insurance.
I need my cables and the speakers and I'll be good to go. Oh and some vinyl to play. Prolly gonna make a run to Euclid in the next couple of weeks to gather a few. Good thing about having that vena is I can play stuff off my phone.
Should I get one of those audioquest iPhone lightning to usb cables? You think they are worth it? Or if you have any other suggestions...

Funny...I just finished reading, not 5 minutes ago, the Stereophile review of the AQ Dragonfly Black and the Dragonfly Red DAC/amps. It is in the latest issue which arrived yesterday.
Subscribe to Stereophile--for less than the price of a MOFI record, you get an entire year of the mag. shite tons of reviews, great ads, and new music reviews. You will also learn a bunch of technical audio geek stuff too!

Yeh. Prolly should get a subscription. Prolly could learn a good bit from it and I could use something to read other than shite at work.

I could go on a rant about the people bitching about expensive cables, but I just don't have it in me tonight.
I would like to hear your thoughts on this stuff. I understand that you need a good quality cable but some of this stuff seams outrageous and full of pseudoscience. FWIW I use bluejeans cables and have been satisfied. I doubt I have a system that would benefit from much more than that.

I'll do a cable "lecture" in the coming week. It's gonna be a long one...

Came across this interesting video on speaker placement and getting them tuned in to your particular listening room. I've been playing with the position of mine since I got them (8 months or so ago) and I've always felt that they weren't all the way dialed in. My room is unique and I know that has a lot to do with it. So I gave this method a try and the results were pretty amazing. It's all about listening with your heart and realizing that everything doesn't have to be measured and exact on both speakers. One may be a little further out into the room. One may be a little more toe-ed in than the other. It's about getting it right with regards to the nodes, reflections, etc of YOUR particular room. There's a particular piece of music used while adjusting your speakers, and with each step, it sounds better and better. May not be for everyone, but I found it produced some pretty good results for me. Vocals are dead center, sound stage is big, and I'm hearing some things in certain songs that I never noticed before.
LINK
To skip straight to the method, go to about 18 min in.

I am at a loss...don't know what I am in the mood for tonight.
No jam bands as I am going to 3 Phish shows this weekend, and I am not in the mood for any singer/songwriter stuff either. Been listening to Yacht Rock all week on Sirius, so that genre is out too.
I have 10k+ albums and nothing to listen to
Suggestions??

Where you guys heading? I know you'll be keeping close watch on the game Sat night...
Ummmm... Have you tried that live Mad Season yet? It's mastered well and sounds really good.

Denver--I will have to do the same as last year and watch the game on the phone while waiting for the show to start. It's general admission, so we get to the seats about 2 hours before the show and hang out. It's actually quite nice--5-7 pm in an outdoor soccer arena in Denver--cooler weather.
I have listened to all of the LPs you lent me and like them all. I have listened to You & Me the most, and like the Half Moon Run the best. The Mad Season does sound good, and the wife likes it too.

Hey guys,
I am sure most of you in this thread already know that Marco is a good dude. I just wanted to share how much he helped me out.
My house flooded, and about 75% of my records got wet. I posted in here that week, asking if there was any reason to try to salvage them, or should I just toss them. Marco offered to help me wash and resleeve them.
I went over to his home and brought 4 milk crates full of records in their wet inner sleeves. He and I listened to some good music and worked for 7 or 8 hours cleaning, drying and resleeving them in generic sleeves.
It was a slow process, and we got through 3 of the 4 crates. I had to head home, but he finished the last crate for me on his own.
He and his wife also treated me to a delicious dinner. I got to listen to both of his systems. Definitely the best I have heard before.
I felt hopeless after the records all got wet, and was close to chunking them. A lot of them had sentimental value because my dad gave them to me. Marco helped me save all the music, which is the most important part to me.
So Marco, once again, thank you so much for your help and hospitality. I will forever be grateful, and every time I play one of those records, I will remember how you helped me.

Yup... No doubt he's a solid dude.
Have to watch him though... He is good at making you buy shite!
Marco, man I'm itching to get these vandersteens and cables ordered. Will probably do it in the next week or so hopefully. Just too much shite still going on with this flood crap to be able to spend the time to do it and get things set up. Hard going in my closet and seeing the quad and vpi boxes!

Marco deserves an award, seriously. He gives and gives and asks for nothing in return.
