Picked up a great condition used Ray Charles True to life and wanted to check out the Zeppelin remasters so I got Houses of the Holy

Had a random day at the record store. Definitely the most random piece I picked up was Rob Zombie's Hellbilly Deluxe Picture Disc.
It's so over-the-top Satanic looking. Sounds pretty good. I loved this album in 6th grade and I am not really into that type of music anymore but I just had to get it. Listening to it right now, its awesome
Also picked up a reissue of Rejuvenation by The Meters, Jake Bugg, Justin Townes Earle's new album 'Absent Fathers' and Ryan Adams brand new 7" that has Johnny Depp playing on it.

I picked this up on National Record Store Day a couple years ago---on cream colored vinyl and limited to 1500 pressings.
Listening to it now.

One of my favorites...The Fat Boys. The album looks like a pizza and the box is a pizza box.
It actually sounds like crap due to the picture disc, but I like it none the less!

It's actually really good. They released a DVD of the show as well.

An co-worker of mine was reminiscing the other day about his long gone vinyl collection. He recalled a copy of Foghat's Stone Blue on blue vinyl. I think I'll find a copy for his retirement gift in a few years.

Use code 25%OFFMUSIC
I'd recommend that Hohokum soundtrack ($10 before 25% off) and Ultima II Massage by Tobacco.

Marantz 6100 turntable
Marantz imperial 6g speakers. I did the screens on them because the old ones were crap.

Just out of curiosity...
What year(approximately) were each of those Marantz pieces manufactured?

Have you ever changed/upgraded the cartridge on your table?
Posted on 1/12/15 at 4:07 pm to purpgoldblood
I only got the table a couple years ago, so no. I'm not sure how old it is. I know it's a shure cartridge, but don't know the model # off the top of my head.

Nice.
Man, I really need to find a nice cabinet to put my stuff in. I shouldn't be so picky I guess, but I just can't seem to find exactly what I want at a fair price. I found one, but it was at an antique store and they wanted $650 for it.
I currently have it sitting on a coffee table.

$650 for a stereo cabinet? hahaha wow. I think I bought our antique china cabinet for less than that.

Cartridge info....check out the Sumiko Blue Point III. I believe it retails at $400, but you can probably get it for around $350 or so. I put one in an old Pioneer PL-41 table I had and it was pretty darn good. It is very close in sound to its big brother, the Blackbird, which runs about $1k.
I know you were looking in the $300 range, but you may consider this one. I would buy another one without hesitation for most tables sub $2k.
