I take that back it looks like Joe Tereshinski III was injured, forcing Stafford to come off the bench…but he did win at #5 Auburn

Irony…I think NOT!

remember in 2004 when JMac came in for Marcus Randall?

Wasn't JMac a RS freshman too?

I was there in the Aubie section and when that War Eagle flew around, my bother screamed, "shoot that f'in buzzard!!!" I watched a 60+ year old man throw a drink on my brother..he deserved it

BTW, we lost 9-10

i don't think LSU has ever had a true freshman qb start and win an SEC game on the road

It is rare anywhere for a true freshman to start at QB

It is rarer still for that to occur at a school like LSU

Typically where it happens, the team is rebuilding and has lots of issues so the chances the true freshman wins a lot of road games is also rare.

An earlier poster had it correct to say that this should not stop us from starting Harris because he is the best option right now.

But, in the fairly likely scenario in which he is unable to beat the #5 team in the country on the road in front of 90,000 orange and blue Pom Pom waiving rednecks, Tiger fans should have a little perspective and not destroy the kid for "failing you."

This is a game we probably lose. Accept that. This is a game we probably lose. But this is also a game that will help turn this young gun into a veteran that can lead us to great things in 2015 and 2016.

hell no. Just saying it's going to be tough.

Nah, it's not often LSU starts true freshmen. That's the reason we have to go back so far. However, Harris seems to have more upside than many veteran LSU QBs over the years.

Not the answer, but Jamarcus Russell got his first start at Florida in 2004. He was a redshirt freshman.

He started the game and spotted Florida 14 points. Marcus Randall came in and Addai ran all over the Gators.

Yes, I think never is the correct answer.

There's a first time for everything and this Saturday seems as good a time as any.

True freshman couldn't even play until sometime in early 70's, I think.

The closest scenario to this that I can think of was when Matt Mauck replaced Rohan Davey in the SEC Championship game in 2001 and beat Tennessee. However, he wasn't a starter that year, but he was a true freshman iirc. I honestly don't think there's ever been a true freshman that has won on the road for LSU though.

so who has the answer?

True Freshmen QBs rarely start in the SEC.

It's even more rare that a true freshamn wins in his first start on the road against an SEC opponent.

It's entirely possible that it's never happened at LSU.

But if you are that curious, there are sources out there. You can look it up.

He was RS and was older than many Sr QBs at that point.
