It wasn't the worst loss margin wise, but the most inexplicable humiliating home loss I can remember was by the 1994 49ers. Philadelphia beat them 40-8 in Candlestick. The Niners would go on to win the Super Bowl that year and are considered one of the all-time great teams.

49ers won the 1988 NFC Championship in Soldier Field 28-3 and it was never close.

Probably the worst big-game arse kicking at home I can remember.

But to be fair.. The worst home losses in NFL history are playoff games... The Rams got skullfricked by the Cowboys in 1975 28-0 in the NFC champ game...

Miami lost 31-14 to the Pats in the AFC Champ game...[1985]

Pittsburgh lost 21-17 in the 1972 AFC champ game..

The Vikings losing to Atlanta in 1997 was a heartbreaker for sure for the Vikes fans.......

But the one I mentioned was a thorough arse-kicking.

That 49ers team was not considered at the time to be one of the all-time greats. I believe they were 10-6. And the game was below zero wind chill and shitty conditions. That game was tailor-suited for a big Bears win and the 49ers did skull-frick them.

I'd consider that 85 Dolphins playoff game vs. New England one of the worst ever.

That team was destined to play (and beat again) the Bears, and they got their asses kicked. They just thought they had to show up and the Patriots dominated that game.

Not sure if it was at home... BUT Jacksonville beat the crap out of the Dolphins like 52-13 in the playoffs.. Jimmy's last game as a coach

Didn't matter since the 49ers won the Super Bowl, but that game floored me. That was an all-time great Niners team.

That's a great one. As good as those 85 Bears were, I still can't believe they won one Super Bowl in the mid-1980's. I know the NFC was a deep conference in the 1980's, but the Bears should have won more than one. Kind of like the 1980s 76ers in the NBA.

Deion Sanders had just joined that team the week before.

Toi Cook was their starting CB at the beginning of that season.

Ditka was the reason. He just couldn't let Jim McMahon be himself and run the offense. It didn't help that McMahon was always getting hurt too.

84 was arguably the best 49ers team ever
86 was the best Giants team ever
87 they got beat on the Darrell Green fluke punt return
88 NFC Championship was their last chance

After that, they dumped McMahon and Mike Tomczak/Jim Harbaugh shut the window for them.

62-7 Jags over Fins in the '99 divisional round. That was at Jax though I think.

Saints over Cowboys 49-17 last year with their 40 first downs.
