Both are respected names Both won a national championship in their 3rd season. Both have the greatest single season in school history. (2011 football, 2013 baseball). However both seasons resulted in no championship. Both had a lull and then a resurgence. Football from 2008-2011. Baseball from 2010-2013. Both are now falling back to the pack and are looking at a perpetual state of mediocrity. (LSU football falling back in the West. LSU baseball losing in home regionals)

Both have figured out the "Louisiana way" of doing things.

Les is stubborn and risk averse to the point of not using the best players. Is this how you would describe PM?

maybe they are similar but what's your point.

Miles brought in a strong recruiting class, he has one of the best winning percentages in the SEC. Sure he makes us stretch our heads sometimes, but your effort to say he sucks has failed epically.

CPM He makes strange decisions too, but LSU baseball is one of the best teams in the conference, year in and year out. He also put together a great recruiting class.

Both coaches had down years but they bounced back right away.

There is no way LSU could do better than either of these coaches.

based on what?

1 loss vs MSU?

Losing in the regionals?

LSU was not supposed to be good last season, they were very lucky to host a regional, and get a top 8 seed. Amazingly we did. We had one great pitcher, one of the best we have had here. We had a great hitter who underperformed this year. Plus a lot of unproven hitting talent. Next year LSU will have a strong lineup with the new balls. There is a lot of potential in our starting rotation but it is very inexperienced. If our starting pitchers pan out to be what they should. (which usually does work out) LSU will be back in Omaha.

The future of Miles isn't as certain. Yes we brought in a great recruiting class but they are just not panning out like we would have thought. But I still want to give it time. With the potential we had in this years class in a year or two LSU could be really good again. This is going to be a down year for us, but we will bounce back.

For baseball 2014 was a down year, but we will bounce back strong and get better.

I don't like basing the success of a coach or a team on one or two games. Especially in baseball. LSU caught fire at the EXACT right time, but than Houston, a better team, beat us. Miles continues to put out good teams on the field, this year may be an exception. But people get all bent out of shape because of 1/9. We lost get over it. The fact that we went undefeated proves we had a strong football team that year, and Miles doesn't need Saban's plays.

This shouldn't happen 8 years into a coach's established tenure.

This seems to be a problem. Most painfully on the defensive line.

Well.. Let's hope they pan out. Because on the other hand they might not. Just as football's top recruits haven't.

On the defensive side of the ball. The freshmen on offense are good.. even exceeding expectations.

Don't we have the #1 baseball class in the country? How the frick does that suggest a state of mediocrity? It's clearly working whatever Mainieri is doing.....

That's just not enough. If every player doesn't immediately become an All-American, what good is he? And what good is Miles if he doesn't recruit instant stars ar every position?
Same for Maineri.
Some of you are too satisfied with the status quo. It's time to shake up things.
Amirite?
