Somebody please define "victory" for the U.S given this chart. Its a bit cartoonish, but also illustrates the complexity of the task and the risks associated with additional military activity in the god-forsaken part of the world.

The problem is you have to fill the vacuum with something. ISIS grew out of the Iraq government turning the Iraq Military into a Shitte army. The political process fell apart and the US left no residual forces behind. I will never understand why the US has a hard on for Assad. These are secular regimes in the ME minus Iran. Syria and Iraq are the same thing because these political maps don't show the picture of huge Sunni populations in eastern Syria and Western Iraq. Enter the Kurds who occupy parts of Turkey, Iraq and Iran. This is one giant secular war and how the US comes out on the radical Sunni side in Syria is beyond belief. Consider 911 and the Saudi Arabia? I mean, the US is way too deep in bed with the Saudis. Still, all of this is because the US removed Saddam. Say what you want but it's true. I doubt Saddam even believed in god.
But the question remains, who do you place on the ground to replace and take on ISIS on the ground? Nobody can answer this question but I would support Assad in this mess because it's the simplest answer. The only problem is we said he had to go a year ago and almost bombed Damascus. We should be working with Russia to purge them out of Syria into Iraq with a beefed up Kurdish and Iraq military. The biggest turds on the block is Turkey. If they don't jump into this they could become the next target. This whole thing is so complex you just wish we could put Saddam back on the throne and return to 2003.

It appears that most of that section of the world is already in the Middle Ages. They like the Middle Ages.

They've been fighting amongst themselves for thousands of years. I say give them ALL an M16, a case of ammo and go back in a year and see who won.
By the way, I'd pin a little note in Arabic to each M16 that said if we catch ANY of you camel humping bitches outside of the Middle East we're going to make one big glass lake out of the whole damn place.

FTR I'm in favor of annihilating these fricking psychos, but it's hilarious that every leftist on this board is in full support of this war when I know for a fact they'd all be screaming "War Criminal!!!" at the top of their lungs if the president had an R behind his nam

Thanks. Sometimes my wife gets on my PC when I'm working and posts under my screen name. She can get pretty fanatical....especially about St George.
It all makes sense now

Agreed. That St. George stuff, not what you were saying but how you were saying it, made me hate you as a poster (at least on that issue). That explains why you seem normal on every other issue, but fanatical to the point of turning off supporters on that one (it made me root for St. George just to spite you).

ISIS is backed financially by the US government.
This perpetual war is orchestrated by our federal government and so are these worthless thug terrorists that are being allowed to do what they do for a certain amount of time.

He has a point, at least as for this presidency.
Obama refunded the Palestinian state after GWB & company defunded them when they elected Hamas as part of their government.
We/Obama, helped in the overthrow of Libya, and ran weapons illegally through Benghazi, weapons that wound up in terrorists hands.
Obama helped the Muslim Brotherhood come to power, gave them 1.3 billion dollars and was going to give them military planes at one point, luckily the Egyptian Military overthrew those evil bastards who were killing Christians and trying to implement sharia-law.
One year ago we were going to bomb Assad and arm the Rebels, who it turns out are actually ISIS/terrorists in reality.
In reality Obama has aided and abeted the rise of the Islamic “freedom fighters” who want to be free of both tyranical rule and Sheik/Royal rulers. They want another United Ottoman type empire, ran by the radical jihadists, and every move Obama has made has aided that effort.

Obama wants to implement Sharia law here in America. Next 2 years will be big.

I agree with the article about being able to "properly" have rebel troops vetted, trained, and then placed in a defined/stratigic fighting role with a specific mission, all In a 12 month span is just signing up for failure before Obama's war kicks off.
