His scheme calls for leaner, more athletic lineman and not 340lbs like Vadal. This was mentioned during the early days of his hiring. Once these guys are gone and his guys are in, you'll see a difference.
Someone needs to let Grimes know the olinemen in this class he has recruited are all over 315 pounds.

You're full of shite.... name recent programs that have had absolute top talent in the trenches for 10 years straight? You ever consider MSU has one of, if not the, best offensive and defensive lines in the league?

I wasn't replying directly to you(I didn't read your post to be honest). I was just stating my overall opinion on the poor DT play and you happened to be the last post in the thread.

I think its gotten much better now, but i can understand the oline, its not like they are all 5*, but the dline is full of highly highly recruited players. But someone inform me of the dts from LA we are losing? We had the best one in a decade that held every record there was in freak johnson. He just didnt pan out. I just dont see the big body tackles in Louisiana.

How are those two doing now relative to our current coach?
They are at programs that were better than LSU and that had always out recruited LSU for decades and Still does because they are closer to the state of Florida and GA that have probably a combined 6 times the amount of nfl prospects as Louisiana.

Wasn't this touted as one of the most talented O-lines LSU has ever had before the season?
A lot of this was by the same guy who raved about how good JJ was every year...in preseason camp. :-/
And I believed him again.

This is the main issue. Athletes all over the field but games are won in the trenches and lsu has now been physically owned by the only 2 physical teams they've played.

I had forgotten everyone on TD runs sub 4.3 and would have played in the nfl if they hadn't gotten hurt in high school. Thanks.
The guy was clearly being self-deprecating. Why did you have to be a douche about it?

We look at their teams now and see they have improved as coaches and are still building programs
Alabama was an OT loss to LSU away from Winning the west 1 seasons before shula got canned. What are you talking about?

This. People seem to forget that even though they weren't great, Alabama was still a talented team under Shula and Saban stepped in to a pretty good situation. The 7-6 record his first year was pretty surprising to me despite the 6-7 record the year before.
Same goes for Jimbo and Florida State. Bowden always had talent at FSU, they were just undisciplined and not coached very well.

And your posts have caused a slow erosion of intelligence on this board.....
yea, anytime we lose a game some of these posters go right back to the same old thing.
we're doomed because saban left. the hell of it is they usually don't compare the LSU Saban to miles but rather the bama saban to miles.

Miles/Studs re-beefed the line and went on to very good, to excellent OL groups that had mfers quitting before the 4th.

LSU is behind the eight ball compared to the other SEC schools with not receiving any state tax money and having to give the university 8 million a year. This cannot help.

I didn't say that Miles hasn't recruited any good players on the lines. He has. But Saban built dominating lines here and at Bama.
Since Les got here the lines have gone from dominating to very good, then from very good to good, now they are bouncing around from good to sub par.
That is the difference between winning 9 reg season games and being in the mix for titles every year. Dominant lines.
The dude's been here 10 years and LSU is a long way away from dominant lines on both sides of the ball. The cupboard should be full after a decade of recruiting classes.
But some people are happy with excuses. Probably a theme in their own lives as well.

well if that's true, that's a recipe for disaster. We tried the leaner faster LB's also and it doesn't work. Big , strong, and fast beats small strong and fast

I have a bunch of 2 star nobody KSU buddies who just held up Auburns front 4 pretty damn well last week. I think the O-Line is coaching and this seems to be the 3rd year our O line was unreal preseason and garbage in reality.

I think it's mass OL confusion more than talent. Maybe a consistent Center will sort it out, but Grimes should've had this bunch ready by SEC play.
