Here is a web site dedicated to the rating of boudin. I ate about 10-12 different ones listed and I agree with all of them.
search by rating or location.

Looking forward to the annual Boudin Cookoff on Oct.25 -- best way to sample many different boudins from all over.

Looks like the site has been updated a bit, though it's probably been a year since I looked at it.

Yeah, that site has existed for years. They need to revisit some of those places because many have gone downhill. Plus I feel like a lot of their grades are based on word-of-mouth and hype rather than actual product. If they did a blind taste taste I guarantee their grades would be different.

A blind test would be very interesting. I agree that they need to revisit some places.

I wish they'd put a little more work in to their sister site, The Cracklin Trail.

His book is pretty good to read.

I went last year for the first time and was disappointed. I tried some good boudin, but I was expecting more entries/samples.

Hmm, really? How many places were there last year? I went 2 or 3 years ago and there were 18 places I think. That was enough for me.

FWIW - Boudin link is written by a guy from Washington State. Not a LA native. Still a pretty decent site.
Did the Boudin cookoff about 3 or 4 years ago, tasted 18 varieties, then got a blind taste test of our top 5.
3 of use pretty much agreed on the results of the tops 5.
1- Nunu's
2 Best stop
3 Johnson's Boucherie
4 Earlys
5 Dons - very distinctively different flavor.

When I went, T-Jims was by far our favorite (that's when I first discovered T-Jims), but they didn't win any categories. Oh well.
