LSU almost exclusively used that formation when they ran over Oregon. No one complained then, but the talent level was so far above the one now.

i'd imagine we can't have that discussion until we know if jennings is seriously hurt or not
Should this even matter since Harris is showing improvement where Jennings is not. I can see Miles still inserting Jenning no matter what Harris does.

Jennings starts off every game with difficult throws that lead to incompletions, which leads to his confidence going down more than likely (except the SHSU game, but like SFP said maybe that was an outlier game entirely).
Les laid up the first two drives on a defensive platter.

Jennings needs a fair chance to throw passes on downs that aren't obvious passing situations.
I like Jennings, but we saw both him and Harris in an up-tempo style in the 4th quarter. Harris simply looked better and more comfortable doing it. He was also pressing to get the next play in.

Dickson did all he could just to catch the awful pass.

i didn't "complain" but i pointed out early and often that our offense was extremely limited in 2011
there was a big debate about 2011 being the best CFB of all time by rantards, and i got in many arguments with them explaining that our offense was a huge liability and took us out of that conversation. they wouldn't listen, even after the SECCG
they had to listen on 1/9/12 though

If AJ is a game manager as you say then why is he getting 11 carries vs MSU?

LSU has also had a big play running game for the last two years with hill, which is the payoff for all the 3 yard runs. That is nowhere to be found on this team. Fournette's vision has gotten consistently better the last few games, but unless you're letting a guy like that have all of Hill's touches from last year you're just tipping your pitches when you run him out there for one play at a time.
He's either getting the ball, or being a blatant decoy. He has yet to be allowed to just play RB as part of the offense. Players with a "package" are limited in what they can bring to the table.
He also hasn't broken a tackle yet obviously.

y'all are setting yourself up for failure re: harris
he threw up some prayers that dupre came down with. the only thing jennings has done well is throw up prayers
don't go raising the expectations of harris to a level that he can never live up to

how many were designed carries? he was sacked a good bit
and game managers can run. wtf

I really hope les didn't think 2014 defense was on the level of 2011 and he could ride them. They had to have seen the softness and gashes coming. If not, that is even worse than the offense

As silly as it may sound (because if it goes wrong it could be disastrous), I think we need to take chances and risks on both sides of the ball. Shake things up.
That's not silly at all. A lot of truth in there.

Jennings had time with wide open receivers on more than one occasion and did nothing until protection broke down. He had his chances.
Posted on 9/21/14 at 9:19 pm to SlowFlowPro
Harris was against their 2nd string D also.

Fournette needs to be the feature back. And by feature, I mean he is on the field until he is tired. 70% of the snaps should be LF, 30% divided by the others at tailback. Other teams fear Fournette on defense, and play action will be better. Also, he will get in a groove and get a good feel for where the holes are. The next time I see Kenny Hillard give a jet sweep look I might kick a puppy.

There were three sacks. Don't believe they count as carries only against yardage.

Don't get me wrong. What happened Saturday night was both lines getting manhandled. Harris gives us a better chance by keeping the offense on the field (less 3 and outs). The defense in the fourth was dogged out.

Give him some rollouts and some easy throws.
our WR screen game, once one of the most devastating in the country (hi Josh Reed), is absolute trash now. this yr, either the throw is off, the blocking is off, or the WR drops it.
we have good athletes at WR, give em the ball on some quick throws in space and let em get a few yds and maybe break one.
in 2011, I-form twins was actually our bubble screen formation. the QB could do a quick check to it out of a run play. seems like that has gone away. bring it back dammit.

I guess that's what Mettenberger did last year also (throw up a prayer). Cam Cameron has taught them that is a good read (one-on-one). In those situations, he expects the WR to make a play on the ball.
