This guy jumped the fence, sprinted across the front lawn, entered the White House through an unlocked door, before being allegedly arrested INSIDE the RESIDENCE of the President of the United States

This guy made it all the way to the eagle's nest and he was armed with a knife.

Someone will most definitely be fired.

So one incident like this makes them incompetent. This shite with people trying to get in happens more than people think.

Clinton spoke at my undergrad school during his reelection campaign. I walked over from the dorm to see it, taking my usual route. I ended up entering the speaking area from a different side than where people were going through security, thus never going through the metal detectors or any other security checks. I got close enough to shake Clinton's hand after the speech.

Scared me a little when I realized later how close I had gotten to the President without going through any security check.

I clicked on one of the links in the article. I forgot all about the Secret Service and their hookers in Columbia.

They seem about as engaged in their job as the president is in his. I wonder if there's a correlation?

President doesn't take his job seriously, why should the Secret Service?

The truth is a lot of it is just security theater designed to stop anybody from even considering an attempt.

Granted, this was clearly incompetence because the guy actually got inside but close calls probably happen a lot more than we know.

Forget Colombia where the SS were bringing hookers into their rooms while all of their protocols for the trip were just hanging out in plain sight; we're just thirty years removed from the President strolling to his car out in the open and the SS just ditty bopping behind him while some random nut pulls out a gun and unloads on him.

Even if the person got in he would be stopped... they got agent Sims protecting the family.

Almost as incompetent as the dolt in the oval office.

18-1 over a 112 year period (plus undefeated on retired Presidents) really isn't too bad, I think you're being a bit overcritical. Kennedy was a tragedy but I think they learned from it - hence 9-0 since then.

Before this happened, I never dreamed that a delusional nutjob could get that close to the President in this day and age without getting killed. This must be a shock to ISIS and Al Qaeda too, and I'm sure they'll being taking notes of all the details that are released to the public.
