And you would be wrong. Harvard had aff action for blacks in the early 70s. Try to keep up.

Umm this isn't affirmative action. This is a new change the financial aid office at Harvard made recently.

I'll help you out here, Zach, only because I feel sorry for you:
quote:

Harvard President Drew Faust and Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Michael D. Smith today (Dec. 10) announced a sweeping overhaul of financial aid policies designed to make Harvard College more affordable for families across the income spectrum.

Like I said, this isn't AA and this wasn't around in the 70s. I can't simplify this any more for you.

Wow, you really are dense. The topic is DIVERSITY. Harvard has been doing diversity for 50 years.
This is NEW DIVERSITY.
Read the OP again.

You have just proved my point. Harvard is doing NEW DIVERSITY. Poor people that goes beyond merit, beyond race, beyond gender, etc.

Of course the real reason for the NYT crusade is to get STRIVING back into a circumvention of racial quotas. Race based admissions have had some problems with the courts.

STRIVING is very OLD. Did you know that? It was a circumvention started in the 90s. IE, 'We are not letting Leeroy into Harvard because he's black. That's against the law. We're letting him in because he's had a tough life. Why? Because he's black."

This is really old case law. I'm shocked that you are so far behind the curve. Well, not really shocked. But have a nice day and try to keep up.
