The LSU tigers have had strong defensive fronts for as long as I can remember...even going back to the dark days of hallman. Gabe northern and chuck Wiley, to booger (dinardo) etc.

I don't know that the season is screwed, but it's extremely unsettling to think that a staple of LSU football was made to look like pop warner kids were playing against an nfl team.

Whether you like it or not, lack of discipline and lack of tackling fundamentals falls on coaching (not necessarily on clm).

Lastly it's disheartening that we, as a fanbase, are being reduced to that of the Chicago cubs, forever talking about how 'this year isn't the one anyway'; it's next year that we can win it...or two years from now..or whatever

Eat a dick. I didn't say anything bad about past teams or success. In fact I acknowledged that success.

We can talk about the offense all night, but their D was good and ours was not. Period. Even if our offense was more efficient, if the defense plays like they did tonight against other SEC teams, we don't stand much of a chance to win. It all starts with the OL and DL, which do not appear to be the strengths of the team right now.

That your fan base bales when it could have been the defining factor & helped win the game. your team is not blind to the fact y'all deserted them.

He isn't wrong. We can't beat our chests about having the best home field advantage after last night.

Everybody's so consumed with talking about QB. This is the real issue we should be discussing.

State was doing absolutely anything they wanted with our D last night.

How did we arrive here and how do we fix it? I haven't seen an LSU D look like that in a very long time.

Obviously you are only a fan when you are winning & there was the possibility of a win in the second half. Too bad you missed it. BUT your fans left in droves- empty except for a small group. Your team deserves support in all situations.

We arrived here because we have apparently recruited busts at DT the last two years or can't coach them up anymore. I say it's a lack of talent. The Oline however is full of talent but look lost as frick. Grimes might be a bust.

runningTiger, just curious, how good a friend are you with Choctaw. You two seem to post very similar.

Is there some criticism to be levied upon Haley and Chavis on the recruiting trail? 3 years ago LSU brought in a huge LB class. To date, none have proven to be anything but avg. (Alexander look like he has the most potential).

Likewise, the vaunted DL class from two years ago hasn't shown much. Last year when LSU's DL struggled, no one but Lacoture could get on the field. Now all of the DL (save maybe Godchaux) appear to be outclassed. Two big names (Herron and Gilmore) can't even get on the field at a weak DL position.

There are obviously some SEVERE holes in recruiting. I'm sure some of it has to do with players leaving early.

We should never be in the position we are in with DTs atm.

So its 3rd and 3 against a team coached by Tebow's OC. They have a Tebow style QB. QB lines up in the gun.

What play would you guess they are going to run? If you ever watch Mullen while he was at Florida or scouted Prescott - you should have predcited a QB run up the gut.

What did we do? Pull all the LBs out of the middle leaving only 2 DTs and a Safety to beat. What happened was predictable - the long TD run by Prescott - based on our alignment. How could be be that dumb?

Its not just Welter - we are just not good at all up the gut and we make maters worse by out smarting ourselves.
