Actually, schools are telling parents not to have kids bring their own lunches. If the school gets federal funding, the kids have to eat the lunch provided by the school (unless they have a medical reason to bring lunch from home).

oh, that is ridiculous.

I hadn't heard that, do you have a link? A google search turned up what i was saying about bringing your own lunches.

We didn't have vending machines in the public schools when I was growing up. It didn't make us miserable. I'm very sorry you've got to have a daily injection of sugar water to keep from being miserable. That's kinda sad.

What are you even talking about? If you want your school children to get diabetes - that's A-OK - you just have to turn down the federal handouts. It perplexes me that those who claim to be responsible government think their schools should get federal lunch handouts with no strings attached.

Have you seen the electoral map lately?

No worries. No one is stopping you from eating sugar. In fact buy a 5 lb bag and gull it down. You'll feel great when done!

Do not have a link. I know an elementary school in Mt Sterling, KY receives federal funding for their lunch program. The deal is, the school has to follow the strict new regulated guidelines and all students have to eat the lunch…no lunch is allowed from home unless it is approved by the school board and have to have documentation from a medical doctor why it is needed to brought from home,

People are against this? Do we pride ourselves in our obesity rates?

Our country's socially acceptable eating habits are disgusting. The fact that people are upset about trying to remove processed food/drinks made up of nothing but sugar from access to kids who don't know any better about what they're doing to their body, says a lot about the problem itself.

I have no problem with the removal of processed food in vending machines. My problem is, the main person pushing this reform can not have the so called "shite food" removed out of the vending machine in the WH…in fact, WTF is there is vending machine in the WH to begin with. If she is pushing for healthy eating, then why not promote it in their own house?

It's not a terrible idea for kids to avoid soda. It is a terrible idea for the Feds to mandate dietary restrictions and make that call. Whatever happened to being pro choice?

Exactly. Heaven forbid that we try to help these little fatasses. Their parents are most likely fatasses who are certainly not going to help them.

...What??? and alienate their ENTIRE support base!!! We have allowed the non-producers in this country to vote in an affirmative action president. Hope you all are happy with the results.

By right wing definition a 'non producer' includes soldiers, retirees, and all low wage earners doing shite the rest of us don't have time to do ourselves - so its not really a useful definition. I don't know what I would do without the 'non producers' who take care of my son every weekday.

...bullshite!!! I'll tell exactly who I mean. It's not soldiers...they work and produce more than any!! It's not retirees...they have done their time and "paid" into the system. It's not low wage earners....they are WORKING!!! It's the non-working sloths whose career is receiving government assistance....it was their parent's career...and it will be their children's career!!! They are the ones who are the non-producers...they are the ones who have put this moron in office. By the way...you Dims have done an excellent job of perpetuating this class of people....guaranteed generations of a voting block!!

bring back PE for atleast 50 minutes everyday and see what will happen with childhood obesity. Removing the junk food is a good thing though.

Lol "Moochelle". It's hilarious because it's taking her actual name, Michelle, and adding "moo" at the beginning, implying that she's a cow. It's also original.
