Wow, what can I say about last night's show at Tipitinas. I don't think there is enough praise for the musicianship I witnessed last night. All members of the band were gelling so well last night, and they were really feeding off the crowd's energy. The stand out jams were Star or Stone, and the crowd favorite Rosalee. Once I get the setlist, I'll post it here.
With that said, what I witnessed last night was jamming that was vintage space Dead, but new and refreshing. It was at a higher level than anything Panic has done of late. Which is why I can say with absolute faith and fact, that CRB is not only an underrated jam band, they are in fact light years ahead of Panic.
Facts:
CRB feeds off crowd energy well and knows how to take their audience on a journey. The vibes were strong. Panic doesn't even realize they are sucking so bad that their own fans attack them.
CRB had moments where they get off, but swung around and put it all back together. Panic will get off and just sit there off key while Herring mindlessly noodles into another scale and JB drinks himself to death.
CRB, if I had to guess, all members combined, weighed about 600 pounds. That's half of what Dave Schools weighs alone.
CRB had multiple songs that jammed over 7 minutes, the standard number in the Jam scene for considering a jam a jam.
CRB lyrics actually make sense, and have meaning. They aren't cranking out dumb fricking Thought Sausage and Ribs and Whiskey songs.
Not one person tried to fight me, told me how many CRB shows they've been to, screamed out CRMFB, tried to tell me what super fricking cool SEC frat they were in or how they thought the "Boyz" still got it. It was a pleasant wook type show, with good vibes and marijuana, not Old Crow and methamphetamine.
Sorry panic fans, the boyz don't got it anymore. There's a new jam band in town, and it's CRB

Which one of you was screaming things like "I'm gonna piss my pants b/c I don't want to go to the bathroom and miss something " ?

Must've been TexasTiger...The only thing I was screaming was Cheeseburger Eddie, CRMFB, and JEALOUS AGAIN!

so there's now a jamband that actually has a good singer, can write decent songs, AND jam? sounds too good to be true, but will investigate.

No, they suck just as much as panic.

I love their groovy jamming style. The highlight for me was the middle of the 2nd set. Beggars moon, tuff mama, ride, rosalee. Throw in star or stone and sunday sound as well. Great high energy show.

Second set was a lot better than first set. Now that I've seen the set list, Ride was probably the best jam of the night, for me

how was the encore?

I was talked into going last minute. I'm a huge Crowes fan but had only listened to Rosalee and a few youtubes I've checked out from CRB before last night. They absolutely blew my mind. Grateful Dead 2.0. McDougall on the keys is unreal. That guitarist is pretty sick as well. What a great show. Awesome crowd too. I became a huge fan last night.

he plays with P&F from time to time if I am not mistaken. I am pretty sure I have seen him on a couple of those terrapin crossroads videos from the youtube channel posted in the thread about P&F a few weeks back.

There you have it folks...the testimonials keep rolling and they are all positive.
When's the last time Panic blew anybody's mind? CRB is the real deal
