you can spank your child, you just aren't allowed to whip your child.

its lazy parenting IMHO. fricking with a kids mind is way more effective, and a whipping hurts for a few minutes but doing things like taking away phones, or access to TV, makes the pain linger.

Last month my 2 year old son ate about a foot of dry wall in the foyer. Third time he's done it this year. I whipped his arse with a fly swatter at least 20 times as hard as I could swing it.

Didn't leave any marks that I could see.

yes and I do believe AP crossed the line.

Spanking a child is a good way to install respect when they are younger because it will scare them. As they get older they get the little tough boy syndrome where they will choose a spanking in which case you spank em then ground. Spanking for punishment and grounding for being a smartass, atleast that is what my problem was.
