West Memphis, Arkansas
I had to drive through there when I moved from BR. I pulled over for gas and decided I would be better off driving another 30 miles
West Memphis is a boil in the asscrack of the South

Chicago red line train from 35th down to 95th.
Also had to stop at a gas station in Gary, Indiana.
Honorable mention: tailgating at Legion Field in Bham.

The North Atlantic in the winter, in a top heavy Cruiser.
Culiacan Mexico, Military police with MP5 and dogs all over the street it's one of the biggest drug ports in Mexico.
Cork Ireland, they didn’t like Americans much.
…every place I have been in the Middle East.

Copacabana area of Rio, Brazil. Had dinner with some business colleagues and decided to walk back to the hotel because the taxi was taking too long, it was not five minutes before I felt like I was in the middle of that movie judgment night. Was literally in my business clothes and loafers running down the street trying to get back to the main drag.
Was skurred as hell.

The Bottoms/Ledbetter Heights, Shreveport back in the early 80's. Cooper road was pretty scary too back in those days.

I did this just two weeks ago and it wasn't to cut costs. I'm in my 40's and can easily afford a hotel.
I was on a climbing trip in Grand Teton N.P. and doing gear checks with your group is a good way to get the team-building process going.

If you're doing adventure travel, it's a great way to meet people doing the same thing you're doing and compare notes.

I didn't really feel that unsafe there. Other than when the Saudi's would come over and let their wives drive and going to off limits bars full of creepy rapist looking Arabs. Civil unrest was a little sketchy and the cops were cooked as hell but overall didn’t find it that dangerous.

Been to alot of dangerous places, if I had to pick one, I'll say rural Colombia, about 100 southwest of Barranquilla. On the rural roads they have random checkpoints by military personnel armed with automatic weapons. And the scary thing is that you are not sure if these armed militants are good or bad. lol
