Upon further review, I agree George Bush was right...
...when he said:
“I don't think our troops ought to be used for what's called nation building.” 02/26/2001

If anyone was right about the Iraq invasion it was Hosni Mubarek.
quote:
Egypt's president said he could not stop U.S.-led warships from crossing the Suez Canal toward Iraq, and warned a drawn out war would lead to increased Islamic militancy throughout the world.
"If there is one (Osama) bin Laden now, there will be 100 bin Ladens afterward," Hosni Mubarak said in reference to the al Qaeda terror network leader during a speech to army commanders in the city of Suez, some 80 miles east of the capital, Cairo.
Mubarak also warned that the war would have "catastrophic" effects on global economic, political and humanitarian conditions and that all Mideast states, including Israel, should be free of weapons of mass destruction.

I don't know about all that.

ne thing he knew better than anyone else is that we had to stick to our guns on the war on terror and commit for the long haul and keep a strong presence in the middle east in order to stabilize Iraq.
That's interesting considering that his administration sold us on an in and out war, that we would be greeted as heroes, that Iraq's reconstruction would be self-funded, that chaos wouldn't rule the day. He didn't even send in enough force to stabilize the country and only changed courses and added troops when it appeared that Iraq was about to be lost to total chaos.
Consider that if he wouldn't have invaded a country with no links to 9/11 or Al Qaeda that it is highly likely we wouldn't have to deal with ISIS or the growing instability in the region.
In the world of "but for" Bush owns the ME debacle. Obama hasn't done anything to fix it and has easily worsened it and is committing us once again to forever war in the ME.

We should have never invaded Iraq.. It's because of morons like you that Iraq is going to become a permanent military anchor for at least a generation because we went in there without a plan and created a vacuum of power that bat shite crazy jihadists like Isis is trying to fill. Kindly go frick yourself with this nonsense.

The country that we helped destabilize?
If a continued presence in the middle east was a requirement because of our own involvement there, then it has to be considered a huge failure.

Tell me again why did we invade Iraq? Saddam had nothing to do with the current religious extremists there now and if anything he held them in check.

Threads like this is why I try to stay out of PT. I have strong political opinions but what is the point of arguing about them because the other side is always going to be the "idiot" and nobody will read these things and go change their D to a R on their voter registration card.
