Considering we are 5 hours from BR, I was surprised at the turnout of interest. 20 kids out of 250 seniors seemed interested. They were really pushing the team sports and Engineering programs.
I know sports a big deal, but if LSU's academic recruiters are using that as a major selling point, somethings's f'd up, IYAM.

Awesome sports teams means awesome fun. No problem a college selling fun... That's a better selling point to LSU than most academics.

Meh.
What is one of the biggest marketing tools out there...
Repetition. If you've put any sort of college football programming on in the last 15 years, chances are you've heard something about LSU at least mentioned.

Eh.
People in Canada would have no idea what "LSU" is if it wasn't for LSU football.
Preaching sports helps.

College isn't just about going to class. There are many other aspects.

Do you think LSU alumni talk smack to their friends about LSU's academic reputation? Let me know the next time you hear your co-workers discussing the national academic rankings while standing around the water cooler in the break room.

We push it way to much in our national ad campaigns IMO.
