Today at TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco, we announced the general availability of One Touch™ mobile payments with PayPal, the industry’s first and only single touch payment experience on iOS (and in public beta on Android). One Touch with Venmo is also in public beta on iOS and Android. Innovative apps like Jane.com, ParkWhiz, StubHub and Type Tees by Threadless, have already enabled One Touch -- the fastest and safest way to pay on a mobile device -- and will be rolling out the newest version of their apps in the coming days. With One Touch, people will be able to pay across their favorite apps in a single touch on any platform, eliminating the need for usernames and passwords each time you pay, while maintaining the trust and security that Braintree and PayPal have long been known for.

This has nothing to do with anything, but here goes. I still don't understand bitcoins. Admittedly I haven't taken any time to try to learn. I'd consider myself fairly well versed for an amateur in finance and investing, but for the life of me, I can't seem to take bitcoins seriously. Mostly becuase as much concern as I have a about what I would call inevitable collapse of another system of fiat currency, everything is still valued in dollars.

You asked how this was different than your current PayPal though.

Yeah, and I highlighted the quote about bitcoin in my question.... How the frick is it any different with bitcoin involved?
My paypal is linked to my CC, which I earn points on when used. Why the frick would I go through the hassle of buying bitcoins only to use them on paypal

Right, but you asked how it was different.

Well, you'll be transacting with bitcoin using coinbase's processing network instead of USD with PayPal.

Well I didn't say you should, only that you can.

So another breakthrough in bitcoin that really doesn't do anything for a VAST majority of consumers... And by vast, prob close to 99%
Again, digital currency may have some place in the future, but as long as there are CC companies, theres no reason to convert USD to Bitcoin only to buy something you could with a CC.

The comments below the video you linked indicate PayPal will be charging fees to begin a payment using bitcoin.
How is that an advantage over my current PayPal account that charges no fees for me to pay for something using their service?

That is, unless, you're doing something illegal and don't want to be tracked. Isn't that the only use of them at this point. I guess there's also the early adopters/pyramid scheme originators cashing in?
