I was never in a greek fraternity and never cared to be in one ... so, I guess I did not know that well known fact about every "Deke."
One observation ... is that they are one letter away from being Dykes ... so, maybe they are in the closet....

Uh, no. Gays are about 3% of the population. Biology says it is not normal. I'm sure you wish it were but it's not. There are calves with two heads. That's part of nature. But it's not normal.
As for the DKe sign, I would think they made them take it down because some parents don't want their kids seeing that. I don't find it offensive and can't think of anyone who would.
FWIW DKE was doing the same thing when I was in school back I'm the Stovall days and the admins were tearing it down then as well.

Tearing what down? Got any specific incidents? At Centenary we had one really bad riot. Two white basketball players protested the no female visitation rule.
They stood up on the tables at Cline Dorm Court Yard and chanted "We Want Pussy! We Want Pussy!"
It was very disturbing.
