Do you actually think the scum running drugs cares about their people's relation to Catholicism? REALLY?
And, I'm sure that the cartels wouldn't give a rip about some of the cool little toys that ISIS could supply them with that we supplied them with and they took from the Syrian and Iraqi military.
The best thing that could happen for the cartels is for more chaos to be created. That just creates them more customers, not eliminate them.

if the cartel is found to have American tanks or military weaponry that we gave ISIS, we will carpet bomb the cartels
