Who ya got? I'm talking about restaurant gumbos here. Not thawed out ones.

The only restaurant gumbo I recall eating is Jambalaya shoppe and Randy Montalbano's and Chimes. Randy's is delicious. Jambalaya Shoppe's was greasy, watered down soup.

The Chime's has an incredible gumbo, best I've ever had in a restaurant. I like the Jambalaya Shoppe's gumbo because I can have it served over jambalaya rice and enjoy being a fatty with my delicious, deadly meal.

I hope you got your jambalaya at another place.

Not really
(You can't go wrong with Ruth's Chris, though)

New Orleans? What do you know about jambalaya? Jambalaya Shoppe may not be the best, but it's the most convenient option in the city that's consistently decent and satisfies the craving. Until there's 5 Lamendola's locations in BR, I'll have to use the Shoppe to get my fix when I don't have time to cook it myself.

There is a Boutin's by the airport?

Jambalaya Shoppe at certain locations serves good jambalaya. Perkins and Government have typically been their better locations in my experience. The gumbo however is just ok. Its.... different.

Just wanted to make sure I had your name down so I can ignore any and all food advice you give out.

I know that the jambalaya ive had from them wasnt very good.
Nice job with the insult although you seem to pretty much agree with what i was saying, tool

So who in your opinion makes a really good jambalaya at a restaurant? Outside of home cooks and catering companies I haven't seen a whole lot of great jambalaya's out there. On the commercial non-catering level Jambalaya Shoppe is near the top.

Sorry but Sammy's sucks, imo. I'd pick Tony's over Sammy's every day of the week and twice on Sunday.
As for the gumbo wars, I don't really care for the gumbo at Jambalaya Shoppe. The chic... errr.... duck and sausage at Chimes is legit. I do like the jambalaya from JS, though.

Ok so we ended up at Nino's. Me,mom n dad were about to order a glass of wine at the bar then the bartender said, " we got the best martinis in town!" We all looked at each other and said to him, " challenge accepted" and proceeded to order our fave martinis. I will tell you now, that boy did them up like that red headed girl at adelaide in nola. We had the antipasto plate with fabulous meats n cheeses then i had the grouper with risotto, dad had the lasagna and mom had the squid ink pasta thingy. I say mom won best dish of the night. We did order the tiramisu but i was tipsy aftertwo perfect cosmos so you could have given me a cracker with ranch at that point and I would have loved it. I give Ninos 3 of 4 stars

Nino's is one of the most underrated and unappreciated restaurants in the city.
