You don't think this whole situation could have been resolved without violence? They could have gotten the punk's info and notified the authorities.

Instead they go all cowboy and risk harm to multiple people.

And for what?

Violence isn't a good response to non-violent crime, especially for a company as profitable as wal-mart.

Look I am not arguing that it is wise for loss prevention employees to try to physically restrain someone to take them into custody for shoplifting. I was however pointing out that is legal for them to do so.

you really think that guy was gonna stop and provide ID for them so they could call it in?

See my above statement. But again I think you are giving the shithead thief a pass. He is the one that should shoulder the blame for the incident. Had a bystander pulled out a gun a shot him when he was stabbing those guys it would have been a justified shoot.
