Custom boat build

I'm looking at buying a new or used bay boat. Would prefer an aluminum. It's been extremely difficult finding a used aluminum boat that fits what I'm looking for. My question is, would there be any savings if I had a boat built (just the boat) and then I rigged everything myself? Ex. all wiring, electronics, etc...
Or would that be a huge waste of time and effort?

What specifically are you looking for?
Budget?
Alex Gravois will build you a beautiful AL bay boat, the last time I looked, I believe they were $80-90k. I've fished in one, and it was a really well thought out unit.

As far as budget, I was hoping to have it built for $10k or less. Note: that's just the boat with no rigging of any kind, no motor or trailer. I think reds is right, it's probably a waste of time but just want to explore all options. Didn't know if anyone attempted it before. Love the Gravois boats, but the price point is out of the question.

I don't think you'll find a custom bay boat anywhere close to that price point. especially with the price of aluminum these days

I had Lobells on Airline in PVille build mine years ago. The guy that took it over can give you a good idea what one will cost. I had the hull made then had a marine dealer outfit it aftr I got interior sprayed. Good Luck

Always heard $1000/ft. Was a good rule of thumb.
20 ft hull = $20k (no motor, cables, nothing)

Mike Kliebert makes very affordable aluminum boats. He can make anything you can draw.

What you need is an IMEMSA (Yamaha) Panga hull which you can rig yourself. You can go to PangaUSA.com or cross the border into Matomoros and buy a panga at the dealer there. If you go to Mexico to buy the hull you can get a 25 foot fiberglass fishing machine for about $4,500.00, brand new and made by Yamaha-IMEMSA.
If you want details, just ask.
