Why does everyone assume that McEvoy sucked when discussing how we won?

Every pass the kid threw seemed to be highly accurate, up until we were within 3 points and he actually had pressure on him to win the game (last 3 drives they had the ball, he did wig out a bit).
Our DBs were a big factor in their lack of a pass game. Even the announcers were saying they weren't bad passes, the receivers were just blanketed.
The pass rush was fine once we started blitzing. Our pass rush was expected to be lackluster outside of Hunter. So why are people thinking we got lucky that McEvoy sucked, when really we outplayed them the entire second half (the entire game if talking about DBs)?
Again, the pass rush is fine, we blitz a ton anyway usually. We didn't get lucky, we woke the hell up as a team and a coaching staff.
Side note: That is my one pet peeve with this team since Miles has been around (and my only problem with him)... Adjustments are typically made at halftime. Very rarely do we see mid drive formation or scheme adjustments.

He had a couple of nice scrambles in the first half as well. He's not as bad as he looked, but still a below average quarterback at this level for sure.

He was pretty awful. Either he screwed up, or the receivers ran the wrong routes. The balls he threw were in different zip codes.

but seriously, this. McEvoy needs to not play QB anymore...

He only threw a few times before the half, and they weren't bad throws. I can think of several in the second half that should have been caught but weren't.
I will gladly admit he shite the bed once the weight of his team was squarely on his shoulders alone late in the 4th. Until then he was good though.

You cant throw lob passes 30 yards downfeild.
At least two throws didn't have a man within ten yds.
He may be the worst we face all year.

I dont consider passes that skip to receivers and passes thrown 30 yards beyond the receiver to be highly accurate

Obvious miscommunications happen. Especially with young quarterbacks. I am just saying the kid did what he needed to. He wasn't missing screen passes or slants.

I agree. I thought he was putting the ball in there pretty tight on the short to medium routes. Our DBs were playing tight and aggressive and he still got passes in.

quote:even early in the game he had several throws that he just blindly threw down field and no one was there. I can be kinda pessimistic while watching the tigers, but even I was like this guy has no chance to consistently complete passes. He was/is bad. I don't know how you can watch that game and not say he is a bad passing QB.

Thank you... This is what I mean. He managed the game well, made good decisions, and made us pay when our line or linebackers got caught out of position.

Goes to show you that two people can watch the same game and see things totally different.

He isn't a bad passer. Like I said a post or two ago, obvious miscommunications happen with inexperienced players. Aside from those one or two plays, the kid was a game manager that just happened to be able to tuck it and go.
ETA: I see that I over-sensationalized my point with the "every throw" comment. Sorry about that. Just a bit upset that people are saying we got lucky that a qb sucked when he really only made a few bad throws all night.

To me it looked like he should be working with the safeties this week

Made us pay with his feet when the line/backers were out of position. We couldn't stop them for shite in the first half. He was a big reason why, whether he was on the run or making those underneath passes count.
