I'm trying to figure out who you think actually turned the middle east and N. Africa into bad places? Just one guy?

It worked out okay in Tunisia where it all started.

Right on queue to his defense. And, it's so wildly successful.

In his defense, the Arab Spring was a humongous opportunity to bring stable, secular, free, democratic representative republics to the Middle East. However, it was clear that the Arab Spring was also a wildfire in shifting winds that could not be controlled or contained. Clearly, we failed at influencing it in a constructive way, what is unclear is whether or not we could have truly influenced it positively at all.

pardon my ignorance but was this not a side goal of invading iraq? set a beacon for democracy in the region?

I wasn't really pointing fingers at POTUS particularly but it was incredibly naïve to think that a people could go from brutal oppression in most cases to self governance over-night.
I think everyone wants that for the middle east but even in Iraq where they were shown how to do it they still screwed it up.
Methinks there is no simple answer.

I don't think we could have and it's a tough lesson I hope we have now learned.
Maybe if we were to go in one country and stay 20 years and spend a few trillion, we might could change them.
I hope future leaders realize we need to work much harder at fixing our own problems.

That's a pretty good description. Another analogy I like is the onsides kick in football. Revolutions are like onsides kicks, in that there's never any guarantee that the team that kicked it will come out of the scrum with the football. The revolutions in most of the Arab countries seem to have been kicked off by the secularists/moderates, but in most of the cases, the Islamists are recovering the football.

This is not a partisan issue. I'm pretty sure both parties supported the Arab spring.
As a side note, it's this shite right here that really fricking pisses me off about partisan Dems and Republicans. They take these comments way after the fact and use them to try and prove something. You're not proving shite other than what a dumbass you are. People like you are the main reason our country is going to hell. Idiots.

After the abysmal failure in Iraq anyone with a brain could see what a nightmare this was going to be. You're right, this isn't a partisan issue. It's a common sense issue, of which the establishment politicians in this country (from BOTH sides) haven't any.

Hindsight is 20/20. There are plenty of reasons to be pissed off at politicians, but I don't think this is one of them.

We've had 238 year so far. Look how well we
all get along together.

Truly, Americans are so arrogantly impatient that others should do it our way.... immediately!

Tunisia: check
Egypt: fail
Syris: big fail
Libya: fail
25% that is passing for liberals

I wasn't and am not pissed off at POTUS for that. I'm pissed off at him because he sux at being POTUS.
Edit: BTW, I think they ALL suck. There isn't a thimble full of monkey piss of difference in BOTH sides. Politicians sold out the voting populace many many elections ago. It's not a partisan issue. They keep bitching at each other so none of us will concentrate they they are ALL useless.
