Im finally making the move to using a 20ga exclusively this year. Gonna make it a lot easier to carry just one type of shells since my wife, and my oldest daughter both already shoot 20ga's. I picked up a M2 20ga this summer and knew right away it was going to be what I carried this winter. Gonna feel weird not carrying my Mag Stalker or my SBE, but I'm looking forward to giving them a break this season. The wife even hit me up for a new SX3 20GA when she saw how much I liked shooting the little 20ga. So who else ain't drinking the 3-1/2" 12ga koolaid and plans on showing their buddies up with 20ga's?

Hmmmm idk. That's some good koolaid. That 3 1/2" 10ga is another flavor I'm partial towards.

Not I
I'll be dropping the hammer on 2 3/4" 12's though. I'm not a fan of recoil.
I've seen my buddy convert many a teal into ground feather meat with 3.5's

20 for teal season and wood duck jump shooting on creeks in Kisatchie.
12 for big ducks.
12 for big ducks.

To be honest, unless you are hunting in timber where the ducks are right on you or you are using a really tight choke and are a crack shot I find using a 20 gauge for ducks almost unethical. Towards the end of the season the birds are usually so weary in the areas that I hunt that your close shots are at 30 yrds. Unless you are a small fella auto 12s dont really kick that hard with 2 3/4 or 3".

I can't shoot worth a shite anymore, but from 10-17 years old, I busted some canard arse in the marsh off the Boston canal with my little 20 guage 1100.

I'm not particularly recoil sensitive myself, and I'm also not a duck hunter. However, from a general standpoint, the 20 gauge is a solid, all around performer. Often overlooked for self defense, I remind detractors that it is essentially 75% of the lead (or steel, bismuth, whatever) for 50% of the tradeoff - even if you're not recoil sensitive, it can pay off the next day with less bruising and pain in the shoulder.
Obviously this will vary by application and shooter, but 20 gauge can take whitetail at appropriate ranges with appropriate loads, squirrel without making it inedible, as well as duck and upland fowl quite competently. Probably the best choice for a shotgun that might be expected to do a little bit of everything.

I shoot 3 1/2 10 gauge and to be honest it is the smoothest shooting shotgun I've ever shot. Most ppl don't understand how that works
