Bought a new HD.. still shuts off
Basically what I mean is when I load windows on my new HD it'll let me do some instillation but the screen just goes black while the fans and everything inside continues to spin and run

Sorry on my phone
Okay this problem has just started happening and its driving me crazy.
Problem 1 - computer wont bot past asus splash screen. It just freezes. I can tap f2 to load bios to no avail.
Somestimes if i unplug my usb devices i can load past the screen, and get a little further before it freezes.
I took everything out, unhooked all componants inside, reseated my motherboard, put everything back in and booted.
I got to the windows log in screen, logged in, and boom same thing. Froze up and couldnt do anything. but i did get further than before.
Anybody want to take a guess? I thought either bad mb or bad graphics card.. But idk anymore.. Also heard od usb devices causing mb to lock up but i used a ps2 device and same thing

How old is it? That sounds almost like a nearly dead CMOS battery. I doubt that, but if you can't come up with anything else, and it's possible to change the battery, give it a try.
My first guess from symptoms is bad memory (or needs reseated).
Check all the connections on the MB too -- data and power to disks, etc.
Could also be a bad display card.
Generally just sounds like there's a problem getting bytes from here to there that only pops up sometimes.

have you tried taking the computer out of arkansas?

I custom built it less than a year ago..
I thought maybe a bad battery, but I didn't think it would stop it and freeze. Everything is seated properly.
Specs.
Asus m5A99x evolution r2.0
650ti turbo boost
16 g OC ballistic ram
1 tb hard drive
Amd Fx 4.0 ghz processor of some sort

Safe Mode...Seriously, what does it do when you boot into safe mode

if you have more than one stick of ram, take one out at a time, always having one in the first slot.
Sounds like an issue with either ram or hard drive.

I can't keep it on long enough to run anything... it just shuts off boss.
I don't have Onboard video so I can't check my graphics card

If you can't keep it on at the command prompt then it's most likely hardware related and not malware.

download Malwarebyte Chameleon and see if it comes back with anything.
if it locks up in safe mode, pull a ram chip.

Right-click the drive icon. Select Properties from the menu. In the new window, select the Tools tab. These are basic hard drive tools. Error-checking runs the chkdsk operation. Click Check Now…
