No it doesnt and anyone who says it does is an idiot. What it does do is offer some counter to the narrative in the media of a "choir boy".

Definitely agree.
However, putting that information out there, does a decent job of counterbalancing the media trying to portray someone as an ideal law abiding citizen.
On either end of the scale, you're trying to influence perception one way or the other. If you just let the media put up picture of a guy when he's clean cut, smiling, etc... you are lighting a fire underneath an already angry, unstable group of people.
